I'm obsessed with great CBs , unlike any other kid who likes strikers , i always loved defensive players since I was little kid , i would LOVE to see DE LIGT - DEMIRAL next season, but knowing our board I don't except it , I even think one of them maybe both are going to be sold soon, but one can dream .
Who’s your favorite defender ever?

Personally I rate Bonucci because his passing skills remain insanely good. It’s just what we all know, he needs a powerhouse next to him. Anyone who says that he’s not important for us is in denial of the truth. You don’t have to like him, but as things now stand he’s one of the most important players in our team. What hurts the most for me is to see him as captain.

From those that I’ve watched personally, Chiellini and Barzagli a close second.

Bonucci-MDL is a fantastic partnership. Dont know why there is controversy to this, or a rush to Demiral start. Chiellini is 35 and coming back from a crushing injury, Bonucci is in his prime. It's clear who will start most games. Chiellini is (was?) Our best defender and will start some games, but it's pointless to have him play 40 matches in a season in his condition. Furthermore he will retire soon.

There are games for Demiral to play and rotate both of the starters and to organically arrive at the best partnerships between these 3 at each point of the next few seasons.

We are talking about 2 CBs that have less than 23yo, more than a decade in age difference to Bonucci and Chiellini. It is clear that there is plenty of time for Demiral and MDL to become the core of the defense, if they continue to perform.
Thats why im worried. His ass tackle aint working anymore.

Chiellini will play the upcoming season then he will retire. He might be able to start 10-15 games so he and De Ligt should share duties, while Bonucci and Demiral sharing theirs like 50-50. Then when Chiellini is retired for 2021-2022, MDL needs to play 95% of the games, Demiral playing somewhat 70% and Bonucci rest. Of course, if they all are healthy.

why does he get roughed up.

i know his play is physical but he always looks like just came out of a hurricane every match. he needs to learn some tips from chiellini in how to elbow players in the face

Should have done better on the first goal but had a decent game against Zapata who is a nightmare for defenders.

His shoulder is a concern, especially as it looked like Rugani was going to come on at one stage.

Papu was in his most devastating position when he received the ball in space there, literally the physics dictate what was going to happen. Big guy running and turning at speed vs little guy running and turning at speed... Sometimes you just have to admit another player will come out tops. Also, let’s give credit to Papu, he’s incredibly good.

Overall, De Ligt put in a warrior’s performance tonight, you can see how he’s won over his team mates’ confidence in bucketfuls. He’s hands down our best defender and for me probably player of the season. Bravo Mati.
