We rarely showed a dominant display against a top team in Europe. We drew a lot of Dortmunds, Portos and Monacos in the knockouts. When we faced a top team, we either just accurately managed to scrape through, or we got embarrassed badly. Throaters will find a single 3-0 Barca out of many losses, but even that game was not a super dominant display as far as I remember, we rarely had the ball in those encounters but we scored on our chances. Nothing wrong with that, but lets not call Allegri a legend for it or give him more leash, we won nothing in the end.

what did we do in the first 60 minutes at home?
Are you comparing the 2 sides? Because one side lost several key players, struggled for half a season to settle down, while the other one bought our best player and added few wc players. That had incredible attacking potential with the likes of Robben, Lewa, Muller, that had better midfielders. Well rounded team in general. The difference between the teams back then. No amount of mental gymnastic can change that Bayern were superior side that needed an extra time to eliminate us, that we were robbed of a legit goal, that Evra fucked up, that Mario missed a sitter, etc.

we were on a 15 match win streak, allegri parked the bus, got humilated at home, changed setup tied took the lead in the tie, and reverted back to cowardice

that's what happened

Thats how you see it. 2-2 at home against Bayern is humiliation? Lol This only tops if only Allegri brought Zaza on. Everything would have been different.

going 2-0 down to bayern at home with alaba and kimmich as CB's is humilating. we didn't even put up a fight.

i ackonledge he corrected the setup between the end of the second half first game up to around 65th minute in the second game.

then allegri's UCL final PTSD kicked into maximum overdrive and we fell apart due to him.

If allegri started the first leg well, we had a higher chance of advancing that's all I'm saying lol

Thats alright. You are entitled to your view. However, what Im saying is that we had to have 100% perfect game(s) to win that tie. If something like disallowed goal happens or silly mistake, it shifts the odds which were already heavily in their favor.

Im just not overly impressed even by the past achievements in CL. Those performances used to be the baseline for Juve, and then in good seasons we would smash them all and win CL and make opponents actually fear us. But for some those performances were amazing, and its just different expectations or opinions I guess.

The anti-Allegri crowd just go too far sometimes. It's that saying don't go full retard. And this is coming from someone who utterly despises the guy.

You got all the reasons in the world to hate the sonnabitch after 3 failed seasons with nothing but pathetic performances and the embarasing loser way he carries himself on interviews, we get it.

But just saying mindless things trying to prove a point is as bad as the ones coughing up his semen.

Besides, why the hell are we discussing his first spell here yet again? Move on. And Alen is right, the midfield has been our weakest link for at least 5 seasons. Doesn't mean it can't do better with the right plan. I believe it can.

Sure, back in the 90s when there were few great clubs and no oil money, when we were among the richest teams in the world. We have won 2 CLs though. However you make it sound we were winners every other year.

yeah, of course. bayern and our players weren't even there, it all depended on nothing else but allegri and whether he chose to be a pussy for a certain half an hour or not. this is exactly how football works. you come to tuz for hot takes, and tuz delivers.

ok if you're happy with 'almosts' go right ahead lol.

i know plenty of other juve fans outside this forum who share the same sentiment towards that tie as I do.

Allegri could've set the team up better.

He was never a proactive coach, just a reactive one.

 We should have been! We were such a cool team. Such nostalgia. Hope there is a way back to those ways!

Yeah. Never set the team up proactively when being the only manager to knock Madrid out of CL in 5 years. Ya know, the 2-1 first leg victory. Didn’t set them up proactively two years later either when smashing MSN Barca 3-0 in the first leg. Or when spanking Monaco 4-1 over the two legs in the CL semifinal after that.

No one is happy we didn’t win CL during that period. However, most also aren’t delusional enough to think that we had the best team in that period and “should have” won it.
