Its almost impossible to see a team play well and in a pleasant way with 352. In Conte's era the team won due to pure force and discipline, in Allegris the team won because it had world class players.

But the performance is pretty much always shit.

There is just fuck all to do unless your team is stacked

Take the 2 wing backs out of the game and that's it. Now you just need to make sure a bunch of midfielders who can't pass if their lives depended on it don't turn into De Bruyne all of a sudden and you're fine.

The thing is we line-up as a 3-5-2 but don't even play like it. The strength of that formation is getting your wing backs wide and high to contribute going forward with an extra defender playing the cover behind them.

In that first half we had no width whatsoever. Cambiaso was inverted, which we saw can work well last week, but we had nobody taking his place out wide. Towards the end of the half we had Locatelli there which is obviously not going to work. Weah on the opposite side got lots of the ball but seemed scared to receive it or take anyone on.

At the start of the game we were like a 4-4-2 in possession with Locatelli basically playing like a CB when we had the ball. It was an absolute mess of a formation and nobody looked comfortable.

Second half Weah was much better and him/McKennie started trying to hit the byline. Chiesa and Illing also stayed wide which helped but we lost a striker when Chiesa did it.

I actually think under Conte we played some nice football in a 3-5-2 with a clear plan and nice triangles. Today's tactic was a mess and seemed to take away the main benefit of 3-5-2.

hear me out guys.

instead of playing mckennie as rwb. chiesa as cf and sandro as cb.

maybe play a normal 4-3-3 or 4-4-1-1 like a normal non retarded team. you have the players for it.

But then we can't play a 352 with 1 actual CB on the pitch and we'll miss all the security that gives us like when Sandro expertly took Bremer down before the goal.
