I don't know.

But with Allegri we weren't going anywhere anymore.

After reaching that second final we were going backwards.

I still wish we replaced him with Inzaghi. (Said it even before these recent Lazio results)
We were going backwards, not because of Allegri but because of poor deals in the market, failling to adress midfield issue for far too long. He made the most out of it, adapting his tactics to players at his disposal while he managed to make very unbalanced side remaining among the best in Europe.

I prefer Dybala over him.

Thanks.
Dybala had some of the best games under Max and was bossing for 3 years...

Honestly I think that our squad was getting worse each year since the last final and we failed with finding replacement for Vidal and Pogba. Only CR7 has been an improvement and Costa could have been if he stayed fit. All other players were either subpar or young prospects far from the expected potential.

I don't blame Allegri for that. I blame Paratici and co.

Nah. We had a good year in 2017-18 regardless of some weird hot takes on this forum. Most goals scored in a season in the modern era (86), smashed a 95 point domestic double, demolished Milan 4-0 in Coppa final, and smashed CL winners Madrid at the Bernabeu, only going out of CL on a last minute 50/50 penalty. That season was a very good one, with a lot of excellent performances.

2018-19 was an unmitigated disaster down the stretch run of the season, and it was good to move on from Max because of that, motivation disappeared, cohesiveness vanished, and players and coach both looked more and more dissatisfied as the season wore on. Max grew to combative and pissy with the media too, even if he was often right, it was just a bad look.

I'm not sure Sarri was the right hire, but I agree with you that it was time to move on, and Max needed a break. Smart of him to take the year off imo.

I'd still like Max to return to our bench some day and finish the job in CL. Just needs some time to restoke the fires.

Anyone else here who has read his book?

It's by no means a great book, but still worth reading if you are interested in his ideas about football.
There are obviously some bits in it about his career before he joined Juve, but most of the book is actually refers to Juve.

Reading between the lines, I got the distinct idea that his relationship with Marotta was excellent. Allegri clearly felt that Marotta being kicked out was a terrible move. A move he didn't understand at all.
At the time it happened, Allegri was obviously still our coach & was going to continue being so, but it seems that things started to deteriorate around that time.
He has some nice words about Agnelli as well, but you get the sense they did have some difficulties near the end.

It makes sense if we look at how our performance deteriorated last season when Marotta left.

Hold on for a bit more... The job will be yours again. What a stupid decision to fire this guy. Fabio or/and Nedved should have been sent packing instead.
He wasn't fired but he wanted to have more say in our transfer policy which the management didn't agree and replaced him with a yes man
