Objective take on our chances against Atletico?
If we go offensive on their ass, we will get dismantled cause we dont know how to play that way yet and they are experts at countering offensive teams that know what they doing going forward let alone those that dont.

If we approach it the way we would normally in the past its gonna be super narrow but I think we can win. It will go down to tiny details and luck

Bring back this physical behemoth into the squad, we really need some muscle, a real powerhouse in the midfield, sure he lacks some technique but he makes up for it In sheer mass, he can fill in at CB against Athletico too, Costa would have no chance.
we would destroy Atleticos midfield physically with Nanes-Pjanic pivot duo. Mourinhos 4231 in his best days couldnt wish for better physical beasts that these 2

If Atletico score first, we go out. They will park the bus and our attack is too predictable to break them down.

Whatever happens, we must score first.

Dont forget the second leg. Last year we were smashed in the first leg and humiliated but almost had a miracle in the second. Allegri works in mysterious ways.

Its 50/50 in my book. We have a lot of similarities with them and probably is around the same level. I am hoping getting a player like Ronaldo will tip the scale in our favour.
Atletico can pressure the hell out of an opponent with their style of pressing, or they can park the bus all day long. Plus they have plenty of muscle.

Juve can't deal with all 3 of those things. Their passing crumbles under pressure, they can't break down a defensive team and they are easily outmuscled by a rough opponent.

Our midfield will be crushed by Atletico's if things don't change soon; unless Max finds a solution, and quick, we're probably screwed.

Now, what should happen if we fall to ATM in the round of 16? Street Allegri?

What if we somehow manage to negotiate them and reach the CL final, but fall at the final hurdle yet again? Street Allegri? I want answers, both from the respected members and the emotional sissies and snowflakes on Tuz. Even trolls like @Fr3sh and @zizinho are welcome to respond.

However, if he wins CL or loses, he should leave after the season. The cycle has come to an end. I am grateful to Max and if he wins CL he will be remembered as the best coach in history, I suppose. Surely for my 30 years of life.

But the voices to dismiss him now or after the eventual fall with Atletico, IS PURE DEBILISM. That's how I see it.

One more thing. Zidane? FUCK NO. It will be suicide.
I prefer Guardiola. We know that if he fulfills the contract he will leave MC. That's why I do not know, but maybe the option that Max should stay for a another one year is not so bad. And then contract Pep.
If not Guardiola, I would go De Zerbi .

Not that Allegri is doing a bad job, we've progressed a lot during his time here and done well in Europe. But I'm of the idea that change is good after a while to maintain motivation, improve enthusiasm and potentially improve by doing something different. I'm of the impression we might have reached a plateau, it's either due to the squad at the disposal of the coach or the coach itself.

Go all in with Zidane at the helm next. His coaching style might fit us well.

If we go out in CL semifinal, it's clearly time to move on... even if the rotten midfield isn't Max's fault at all obviously, and the injury woes we have aren't 100% his fault (but it is his fitness staff after all), we're better than Rof16, and Atletico...

I'd say if we drubbed and badly embarrassed at any of the stages left, it's probably time, even if the blame doesn't fall squarely on his shoulders, and what he's accomplished here is incredible. The management made the mess in midfield, and now this screwy winter mercato shit on our backline, but we're still good enough that we should be at the very least highly competitive with any team in football.

If we get to SF/Final and actually put in a good performance and just get beat by a better team, while playing well... I think, if he wants to stay, and the management is willing to back him by fixing our midfield mess, you obviously keep him and go all in next year with a proper midfield to be the engine of this team.

I can see quite a lot of problems with that formation.

1. There's no physical power in the midfield. It wouldn't stand high pressing and often time it would look like 6 vs. 10, because that attacking part of the team would be rendered useless and not even touching the ball.

2. Pjanic is not the guy who can single-handedly do what is expected from that position. He's not Casemiro, Fernandinho, or Busquets, and Can or Bentancur are even less so.

3. What about substitutions? Both during the game and when someone's injured. That formation already fields everything this team has. This is what Sarri did at Napoli, and we know how it always ends in the long run.
With this formation Pep would keep 80% of ball possession and score average 3 goals per game. So you dont need physical players there. Bentancur could come on for one of the players and switch to 4-2-3-1.
