He has to do a lot more before he surpasses Lippi.

Trap though I feel is a little overrated. He had the best team in the world on paper (same can't be said about Lippi's or Allegri's Juve) and managed to win only one EC.

Scirea, Cabrini, Gentile, Tardelli, Laudrup, Platini, Boniek are among the best of all time.

I wouldn't trade Allegri for Zidane now, but if we fall short in the CL yet again I'd consider it very heavily as long as the feeling is mutual from all parties. You simply cannot win the CL three times on the bounce without something special about you; sure the Real Madrid team was strong, deep and balanced as hell, but they fell short in the league a lot yet managed to pull fantastic performances in those massive CL games that mattered. He simply got it right on almost every occasion and managed to pump up the players in those big games. The tactical and rigid approach by Allegri wins leagues especially in a fairly straightforward league like Serie A, but you need something more in the CL. We stumble time and time again when we revert to our defensive approach when instead we should be killing games off.

No, he has to win the Champions League ONE time.

Lippi has a LOT more to answer for when it comes to our lacklustre CL final history. The defeats in 1997, 1998 and 2003, in my opinion, were all on him. Particularly 1997 and 1998. That we lost those 3 in a row is nothing short of a disaster. Losing to Barca and Real in 2015 and 2017 as underdogs doesn't even come close.

That said; if Max fails to win the CL with us, Lippi is still greater of course. But in terms of how I view things, all Max needs is the CL trophy to be the best.

Lippi was the reason we played those CL finals in the first place, and league was a lot tougher back then. He built two great Juves. The first was amazing with average but hardworking players like Torricelli, Pessotto, Di Livio, Conte. Lippi had better squads than Allegri up till this season, but they weren't perfect like Trap's, and even Sir Alex looked up to Lippi. An easy draw played a big part in reaching 2015 final. In fact, we barely qualified from the group stages. Allegri has a while to go before he surpasses Lippi.

I don't wanna lose the league to Ancelotti's Napoli, and Allegri himself is a good cup coach, 2nd best after Zidane. Allegri isn't as good a league coach as Conte, but he's better than Zidane. Allegri is fine and the right fit for now, and he's doing well. No reason to talk about another coach now. We'll see in the future. But yes, post-Allegri, Zidane is who I want. Man needs to return to this club.

How many of you would trade Max for Zidane?
I would (of course not sooner than after this season). Allegri has flirted with an exit for a long time now and I don't think he wants to do a Wenger or a Ferguson at Juve, he's bound to leave at some point, I'd prefer if it was planned out and not spontaneous.

F.e. summer 2019 would be a good moment to do the switch, the squad is stable and with a good core, so we're not risking Inter post-treble scenario, and there are plenty of great coaches like Zidane, Conte and Jardim on the market. Summer 2020 many of our core guys like Chiellini, Matuidi, Ronaldo and Mandzukič are either done or close to the end, changing the coach (and who knows who'll be available, those 3 certainly won't wait that long) + introducing new leaders is very risky imo.

Allegri: Ronaldo, Pjanic, Perin... | Football Italia
Juventus boss Max Allegri says Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the Ballon d’Or, Miralem Pjanic has ‘no flaws’ and Mattia Perin will start against SPAL.
The match kicks off on Saturday at 17:00 GMT – click here for a preview.
“SPAL play good football and constantly look to build,” Allegri said at a Press conference.
“They’ve already won in Rome away, playing well there, and also won at Bologna.
“They’ve picked up some great results away from home, they’re physical and aggressive, and they recover many balls.
“We must be sincere in our approach, managing the game well, knowing they’re one of most difficult smaller sides to face because they can make you pay.
“Ronaldo’s fine. I don’t know anything about this Ballon d’Or thing, even if he deserves it. Dybala? His goal for Argentina will have given him confidence.
“He came back on Thursday and did some light work, but tomorrow he could start from the bench.
“Ronaldo and Mandzukic will play. They have a good chemistry, like everyone behind them.
“Paulo and Ronaldo have played less together, but they’ll refine their understanding in time.
“With those three up top, we can express ourselves well. We’re on track to arrive in March in excellent condition.
“Khedira is out, Emre is recovering and in a couple of weeks he’ll be available. Matuidi will be back today from the three days of rest I gave him.
“We’ll go with what we have, but we’re not in a state of emergency. The team are fine physically and mentally.
“Pjanic has ironed out all the flaws from his game and is now a top player. He has vision, plays nice geometries and had a great game in Milan, showing his range of passing.
“He also won back balls, which let us counterattack. I sometimes take him off so he can recover, plus I have Bentancur who’s growing quickly.
“Perin will play tomorrow. Chiellini? He’s got better with age, but I have to manage him as we play three games a week.
“We’ll see what he’s like today. If he doesn’t play then we also have Rugani and Benatia. Juventus have five of the best defenders in the world.
“Rugani played at Empoli and had a good game. Benatia the same in Milan. I needed someone like him in that match.
“Maybe tomorrow Rugani will play, but if I choose someone then it’s because I think that player is suitable for that game. They’re all exceptional.”

Yeah Pjanic is now a perfect player. It happened during a training session last month. Simply ironed all flaws out. We won't see sloppy and careless passing anymore. Now he will take responsibility and drive us forward. Gonna be great.

Allegri: 'Think ahead like CR7'

By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri praised Douglas Costa and Rodrigo Bentancur after Juventus beat SPAL, but “we need to think ahead to the next move” like Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 2-0 result was decided by Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic.
“It wasn’t easy, as we had only 20 points in the last 10 games after a break for international duty,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We struggled more in the first half than the second, whereas we changed a few things with Douglas Costa behind Ronaldo and Mandzukic, so that helped the team both on and off the ball.
“Douglas Costa had a bit of a rough period due to injuries and other issues, but he put in a good performance this evening, above all in terms of personality.
“Rodrigo Bentancur has improved a great deal, although he still needs a little step forward when on the ball, as he has to pick the right pass. Timing is very important in these situations to find your teammate in a good position.
“Miralem Pjanic and Bentancur had to stay fairly static in midfield, otherwise we’d risk SPAL going on the counter-attack.
“Ronaldo moves and thinks so quickly, he saw Douglas Costa coming out the corner of his eye and pulled the pass back. We need to all improve in that sense, being able to think ahead to the next move.
“I do look at the characteristics of the opponents, but I make my choices above all based on motivation and determination. Every now and then, a spell on the bench is good for players, especially if they play all the time and can get a bit sleepy. [ @Kyle - hurt players feelings lol)
“It’s a very competitive squad. Daniele Rugani is a very good defender, but we have five excellent defenders. Medhi Benatia played against Milan because it was his kind of game, he had to get the crosses in the box.”

It's amazing the amount of times he tinkers during a game and finds the solution.

We started off playing 442 in both defense and attack. Didn't work when we had the ball, so we switched to our usual 433 attacking shape with DC and Cuadra switching sides. It worked.

Started second half with 442 and 442 again. Then Max had them play 4312 with DC at trequartista in both attack and defense. It worked.

When we needed something more in defense, Matuidi came on, and we switched to 442 again. Then Chiellini came on, and finally, we ended with a 532.

I think it's more alarming that he has to switch around all game, every game, instead of having a solid plan. We have so good players, almost anything should work. We don't really know what to do in attack, but how could we, when players play left and right. We are winning comfortably, so nothing to complain about, but the worry is of course when we are gonna meet the elite.
And please utilize our subs when we have so good players and a Kean on the bench.
