As paradoxically as this sounds it is true. As the revenue gap increases, it will be increasingly harder to compete and so increasingly harder to win the CL again.

Was it good enough for Inter's future that they won the CL? It wasn't. They will probably never win one again.

Compare it to Barca's rise. Won it with style, made shit loads of money out of dinho. Had enough money to win it again in style and keep Madrid's free spending at bay. Then did it again and again. No way they would have become a financial powerhouse like that, had they been playing our ugly football.

Plus, we are not winning the CL. We are getting close then losing. Again its better to do that in style than with ugly football. We'd probably be more feared and raise more revs from finishing in Semis instead of the final had we been playing with style.
That has to do with having an incompetent management more than anything else. That team had to be rebuilt and they did a really poor job at it.
In the end it all depends on marketing and nothing else. Playing 'beautiful football' is just one way. Winning is definitely another way. If playing beautiful football was the only way, every team that Mourinho coached would have bled supporters left right and centre every year :D
The second bolded part is just rubbish.

Winning and Beautiful football come together in every one of the teams bigger than us and that is Madrid, Barca, & Bayern. They dont have to be alternatives. We should be able to play better football and still win Serie A and go far in the CL. We are not Napoli.

Also marketing needs a good product to market. People share videos of PSG, City, Pool, Madrid, Barca, Bayern etc... because they like what they see. No one thinks to themselves "let me put on a scrappy mandzukic goal that will get dem clicks".

we got plenty to market, Buffon is a living legend 90% footie fans love, Dybala is one of the hottest young attackers, Pjanič is one of the best freekick takers around, Chiellini is the toughest defender nowadays, Benatia is the next president of Morocco, Higuain and Berna recently made the forbidden switch to a huge rival and Costa is the king of highlight reel with a big name in Eastern Europe from his time at Shakhtar. We're living in a click-bait paradise

The footballing section of this forum is truly disgusting right now.
Almost mind boggling at times, brother.

To the point that I can't be bothered with the back and forth. End up pointing out obvious things that every half-tuned in Juventino should already understand. Pretty much a waste of time talking about the league-wide fallout after Calciopoli, Italian recession, regressive FIGC dinosaurs incompetently sabotaging their own future, general lack of infrastructure, sheiks/oligarchs/countries destroying the market as they try to buy their way to trophies (to the detriment of football as a whole), half-baked ineffectual UEFA measures, EPL TV money, Barca's youth academy, Madrid being Madrid, generational players, Bayern management, German league infrastructure/accessibility/marketability, etc.

But if only we could play flair and fancy football, all would be so different. Then pundits and our BPL friends wouldn't look down their noses at us, and we could respect ourselves. Finally look ourselves in the mirror, and be proud of what we saw. Despite the past 6 seasons. Fucking hell.

Also unreal that because of 1 half against Madrid, some people act like Juve didn't play attractive football last season -- despite the club's quality play being recognized by pretty much everyone abroad. Or like we weren't an incorrectly called offside goal or Patrice Evra brain fart from beating Bayern the season before. As though the 2015 final wasn't against possibly the greatest attacking trio in modern football history. Man, what a terrible Juventus side that was to watch, huh? :shifty: That game against Barca was so fucking close, it makes me sick just thinking about it.

Loved the Mandzukic reference, too. Heh. He's struggling big time right now, will gradually change roles, but has obviously been an important player for our success these past years. Can also occasionally get some clicks... or so I heard, from everybody I know who watches football.

This team is beat to shit right now, and grinding out results on the seat of their pants. Context is so important.

The fans of almost every team would shit themselves with glee to get the kind of numbers Allegri puts up.

Win percentage is going up every year:
2014/15 - 64.91%
2015/16 - 71.15%
2016/17 - 73.68%
2017/18 - 76.32%

76% win ratio playing in 3 competitions and complaints about style of play, top kek.

Win ratio for selected Juve coaches:
Allegri 71.08% (204 games)
Deschamps 70.45% (44 games) Serie B
Conte 67.55% (151 games)
Capello 64.76% (105 games)
Parola 57.92% (202 games)
Lippi 56.05% (405 games)
Ancelotti 55.26% (114 games)
Trapattoni 53.33% (600 games)

Obviously there are various factors to take into accounts in terms of the league, longevity, squads and all the others but in terms of sheer numbers he can't do any more. We are winning so many games and conceding so few goals in recent months that it becomes something of a catastrophe when we have a negative result.

Win some
Win most of the time
Win nearly every game <<<<<<<<<<< we are here
Win nearly every game with style
Win every game
Win every game with style
Reinvent football

Just a few rungs to go before immortality.
Allegri is undoubtetly one of the best to have coached us, and he's one of the best in the world. He deserves more support from the management, I want him to have a stronger influence on our mercatos and to be in here for a long time. I doubt either will happen as he'll most likely be scapegoated for whatever short comings that may happen.

 Its not happening my friend. Dybala and previously pogba are our best bet but you need the team to play to their strengths to get something out of them.

Re-bold: Hell no. We arent known for attractive football at all.

That Manzukic goal was actually widely shared because of its flair. If you want to pretend that goals like that or beautiful goals or aesthetically pleasing play at all have been our normal for the last 2 years then I dont know what to say. You and I both know we have good results but not good style. I dont see a point in denying it. I think when more than half the largest English speaking forum of the club are saying the football is ugly then that is indicative of something. The fan base on this very forum are dissatisfied. Call it spoiled or low loyalty or whatever this is the fanbase now and if the type of fans that watch almost every game and spend hours on forums talking about the club are getting disengaged out of boredom then that says something.

The world has changed. Back in the day, I only had access to Serie A on cable TV. Almost the entire middle east had nothing to watch but Serie A. Today for free I can stream any match in world football that I want. If you are not entertaining to watch, young people and new fans have a host of options to choose from. I almost always stream 2 matches at once because of how boring the matches are. If I was new to football or a kid now, the chances I'd be a Juve fan that watches every game would have been close to zero.

with our football lately? maybe. with how we've been playing the last few years overall? fuck no, we've had several different great teams under Allegri which were great to watch. we shouldn't take this rough patch and say that it is the norm for this team

Since last season it has been especially bad. Previous years it was more entertaining but still not to the level that people would classify our football as appealing. Bayern has that brand of football that isnt all out attack but it is dominant and attractive. I really think we can emulate their style and if we do, we'd be better off in the long run.

Last season I was ecstatic with our 4231 in the second part of the season, we played some mesmerizing games. And so was this forum.

So much so that some English pundits even pitted us as favorites vs Real even though their favorite boy CR7 played for Real. Short memories and all that.
Cuadrado's sudden and drastic loss of form ruined what was a near perfect team.

Last season we played great balanced football more times than not, which is what I think makes more people dissatisfied with the quality this season.

"Juventus were the standard that any team with aspirations to win the Champions League had to reach, and we were no different at United. Juventus were different to what I knew. They played a 4-3-3 formation and by the time we went to Turin to play the defending champions in that autumn of 1996, they had a new star. Zinedine Zidane had joined from Bordeaux and he operated in a midfield three with Conte and Didier Deschamps. By any standards, that is a pretty useful trio of footballers.

“Like all good teams, Chelsea made the pitch feel very small when they do not have the ball and then, in an instant, when they do have it they can make the pitch feel very big ” Because Marcello Lippi played a 4-3-3 formation in an era when just about every English side played 4-4-2, there was always a decision to be made for his opposing manager as to whether to change – as there often is now with Conte’s 3-4-3 at Chelsea. That night Sir Alex Ferguson decided that we would match Juventus and play 4-3-3 ourselves but by half-time it had turned into a nightmare for me. We were 1-0 down to Alen Boksic’s goal but that was only half the story. I was in midfield with Nicky Butt and David Beckham. The problem, in my view, was Eric Cantona had always been used to playing with a strike partner and functioned best that way. He had Jordi Cruyff and Karel Poborsky either side of him, but my main complaint was that Eric was not showing for the ball enough and at half-time I decided to make my feelings known."

The aim should always to go back to having this kind of reputation.

Allegri cares little for that. He is not interested in a style of play, in the philosophised construction of beautiful football, but rather in developing intelligent footballers who think for themselves.

Tactical schemes are indeed taught, and the aim of the game is to have a side that can morph into various different shapes in order to achieve the best possible outcome. But Juventus are rarely beautiful. They are a team who work in the moment, knowing how to hinder the opponent from playing as well as exploiting their own opportunities to score.
