Strange how he never got to manage one of the big three clubs, Milan clubs and Juve have had plenty of clowns in charge during the last decade who are way less qualified than Spalletti. I would have liked him here instead of any one of Ranieri-Ferrara-Zaccheroni-Del Neri, but we've grown a lot since then and he'd be a big gamble now.
I think, as with most quality coaches, the question about Spalletti isn't whether he could win Serie A with this Juve (I'm pretty sure he could and would), but what he'd achieve in CL with it and so far in his career nothing suggests he's capable of winning in Europe
It really is not a good excuse. Only expecting to win when you have the superior players is a loser mentality. Football is a team game and a great coach should be able make his players overachieve because they are able to count on their collective strength.

Of course you can, what the heck. That's what makes a great coach.
I'm not only talking about this season or any particular manager even, just pointing out that it's ignorant to to say the team with best players always wins. We've seen Atletico and Leicester winning a major league just recently and their competitors certainly had the better players.
This is not true either. Allegri over-achieved at both Sassuolo and Cagliari. At Milan he probably did what was expected and here I'd say he has easily over-achieved as well winning back to back doubles while going to the CL final in one of his seasons.
What about CL, would you say Spalletti is a good choice if we want to challenge for CL every season?
I can't remember anything good about him in Europe apart from knocking out Real almost 10 years ago
Allegri overachieved his first year because he made it to the CL final. He underachieved his second year getting eliminated in the round of 16. Yes we almost defeated Bayern but we still lost and furthermore if we won our group we could have won the whole thing because we would have faced the same opposition as Manchester City.
I don't think Simeone or Atletico fans expect to win La Liga or reach CL finals regularly, they hope to be successful, but acknowledge that the odds are not on their side
