I don't know if people noticed, but Allegri did something very interesting in the first match when using Pjanic.
Pjanic played a roaming role in the midfield, playing wether as an AM, inserting in the box constantly, but also going back to start plays sometimes, as a regista, and also as a CM.
He was pretty much free in the midfield.
Dybala is clearly also roaming, but more upfront. But many times Dybala would be in a further position than Pjanic.
This is because we dont need Dybala to score as much as he did last season. We lacked it with Mandzukic, but clearly not with Higuain, so Dybala can focus on being creative and setting up plays.
And Khedira is a guy that never stays grounded, so you can say the only fixed midfielder was Lemina as a DM, while Pjanic, Khedira and Dybala were always roaming to create plays along with the wingbacks.
I just loved it. I think they are on the right path to make this a better team post Pogba, with more fluidity in the middle, more offensive roaming and a top finisher in Higuain, who can also contribute to build up, since he's very skilled. We really looked more European.
I hope we'll keep on this track.
My biggest concern now is Chiellini and Barzagli performances. Barzagli has seen a discrete drop of level in the last few matches, even though solid, but not the monster he normally is. And Chiellini is always up to being a monster and the best man on the pitch or to a fuckup day.
