Because we were complacent from the first minute of the second half (I wonder why). Look, we gave away quite a lot of chances. We usually don't and this was freaking Sevilla.
I agree. I don't agree that Allegri should be blamed for it.

We can't be having player like him in our starting 11.
Okay enough now.

We were cutting trough them left and right in the first half, but we didnt score, that is on morata.

When the central midfield collapsed, they started to intercept horrible passes and controlls, wich led to shots, crosses and headers, or forced defenders into fauls and corners.

We had 0 central midfielders on the bench.
Zach, I already said that is was stupid counting on our attack, when we've been horrbile in attack all season. We didn't even have to win.

He's fine when Marchisio is good. But he cant compensate at all when Marchisio goes under. And Pogba needs the cm's to play properly to function well.

i'm not worrying about fiorentina. Asamoah for Sturaro. Pogba a more attacking minded position

Btw @Klin , Sturaro also had a huge miss on that Sandro cross in the first half.
He can't pass for shit. Yet I wonder why I don't see @Hustini spamming his thread about it like he used to do with Vidal.

Yes his header was good.

We are on a run in Serie A, we need to keep it going, psychologically a win against a team second in the league and close in on the leaders before the winter break (especially with Roma v Napoli) could be huge. Conversely dropped points could have the opposite effect.

We only needed a draw tonight, I would have been almost just as confident enough of getting that result resting Licht and a defender. Lets be honest winning the Champions League this season is not going to happen. Serie A is the priority in my eyes, especially as we have far more competition to get in the top 3. It's not like we were battling Sevilla to qualify, we are already through and top spot is a bonus. We made it to the final last year qualifying in second, it is not the most important thing but is obviously an advantage.

Its not as though I'm saying to start Vitale instead, these guys are still decent players.

You have commented in other threads that certain players look tired, given the run of games I would rather have tried to keep the team as fresh as possible for Fiorentina.

But I understand that for some the Champions League is everything.

We played away at a team that desperately needed a win. You risk falling second on a loss. Offcourse you arent gonna play with a 4 minutes youngster, and an offensive winger when the opponents main forte is crosses.

We quite simply had no alternatives today.

And for fiorentina, we get Asamoah back. Hopefully some others too

I dont approve the vidal comparison. Asamoah is closer to vidal then sturaro, and kwando is a completely different player.

Sturaro is a nicer filler player. A player that wont fall trough when the rest of the midfield is fine. He's a good squad player. But you cant rely on such players to make a difference, or compensate the fall of starters in prior games.

When are pereyra and khedira back ? those 2 + asamoah would be well appreciated

Its not as though Rugani is some unknown, he played every minute in Serie A last season and if I remember correctly completely outmarked Llorente last season when we played them.

Cuadrado is offensive yes, but again he can tackle and played as a wing back in Fiorentina many times.

As I pointed out before, Fiorentina is the bigger game this week for me (for reasons stated above), we were already qualified, top spot would have been nice but it is not everything.

We clearly aren't going to agree on this, it is a pretty boring discussion and I'm happy to respect your alternative opinion.

Lets just make sure the get the win on Sunday and all of this becomes irrelevant :flag1:

We should try to close the game when we got the chance and it wasn't Morata night but I kind of blame Max for this, he don't use Morata as a starter like since forever, his out of shape

Critical games is not when you take off a world class defender and put up a kid with 0 european experience.

And no coach right in his mind would take off a quality defensive wingback, and put an offensive one in his place, when the main treath is crosses from his wing.

And he didnt need to. We created several clearcut chances. Lichtsteiner was the correct choise.

I recon we'll see this same setup 2 more games. Altho i hope we can replace sturaro with khedira or asamoah and morata with mandzukic soonish

If we won the group our possible opponents would've been,

PSG, PSV, Benfica, Olympiakos/Arsenal, Kiev/Porto, Valencia/Gent, Leverkusen.

Only ONE very tough opponent.

Now tell me if anyone can justify finishing 1st or 2nd is more or less the same.

Irregardless of luck, you increase your chances of going further in the competition.

But now in the current situation, we need luck absolutely.
