If we won the group our possible opponents would've been,

PSG, PSV, Benfica, Olympiakos/Arsenal, Kiev/Porto, Valencia/Gent, Leverkusen.

Only ONE very tough opponent.

Now tell me if anyone can justify finishing 1st or 2nd is more or less the same.

Irregardless of luck, you increase your chances of going further in the competition.

But now in the current situation, we need luck absolutely.

Who's justifying finishing 2nd? I might have missed those posts. From what I gather people expect us to perform better than the opposition as long as it's not Bayern or Barca. We have the quality. Sure, finishing 1st would have been ideal, but that ship has sailed.

Critical games is not when you take off a world class defender and put up a kid with 0 european experience.

And no coach right in his mind would take off a quality defensive wingback, and put an offensive one in his place, when the main treath is crosses from his wing.

And he didnt need to. We created several clearcut chances. Lichtsteiner was the correct choise.

I recon we'll see this same setup 2 more games. Altho i hope we can replace sturaro with khedira or asamoah and morata with mandzukic soonish
Honestly you really don't understand what I am saying....

I am trying to make the point that the game is not as critical as you are making it. As mentioned in several previous posts I consider Fiorentina the bigger game (see previous posts for reasons), we are already qualified, top spot would have been nice but is not the most important thing (see last season and previous posts for an example why).

There is no point trying to discuss something if you do not listen to the other side of the argument.

I agree Lichtsteiner is a better wing back than Cuadrado, that is why I wanted to rest him for the Fiorentina game (see the numerous points before why I think this).

You clearly think that today is a huge game, I get that. I don't think it is as important as Sunday, you have done nothing to convince me otherwise instead have just repeated the same point that we need to stop crosses, that Rugani and Cuadrado are not as good as the starters and it was a big game.

I am happy to respect your opinion that you think today was a critical game (again if you read my last post you would have seen this).

Allegri: 'Qualification important'
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri insists Juventus “shouldn’t be disappointed” after their defeat to Sevilla. “Qualifying is what’s important.”

The Bianconeri needed a point in Spain to be sure of top spot in the Champions League group, but were beaten 1-0 and Manchester City saw off Borussia Monchengladbach 4-2.

“We did very well throughout the group stage and I saw the improvements within the team,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“There are never easy games in the Champions League, but I consider the performance tonight to be good. If we had taken the lead, it would’ve been very different.

“We did well in the first half, but after the break we gave the ball away too often. It was not easy to come here and get a positive result, no matter what some people might think.

“Now we have to wait for the draw, but we mustn’t be disappointed. This was the most difficult group in the competition and it would’ve been great to win it, but the most important thing was qualifying.

“We’ve got a game coming up in Serie A against Fiorentina that is more important than tonight’s match.”

Alvaro Morata had a rare start and missed a couple of sitters, including one from point-blank range.

“Morata had a good game and has always scored in Europe,” insisted Allegri. “Last season he was in competition for a place with Fernando Llorente. This term he’s had some ups and downs, but he played well tonight and it’s disappointing for him that he didn’t score.

“We should’ve controlled the result and not push, as that was down to Sevilla. At the end we hit the bar with Paulo Dybala and had another great chance with Morata.”
not so happy with his interview today.

I don't like how he made us sit back for the draw in the second half. You could sense a Sevilla goal was coming and of course it had to be Llorente. It angered me that once again we only started to put the pressure on when Man City were 3-2 up.

So people are actually blaming Allegri for tonight's events?
He's definitely not the main reason. That falls on complacency from certain players. But he should have properly instructed and inspired his players at half time to close the game out adequately, which we didn't.

If Mandzukic was fit we wouldn't have lost this game.

Exactly.

Fuck I'm even more annoyed about this result than I was after the Sassuolo loss. A huge missed opportunity for us.
