In Allegri We Trust

I am arguing with the average tuzzer right now and so your opinions of 4-5 years ago are what concerns me. I seriously doubt that back then you thought we were making two "brilliant" signings. If you did, then I'll bow to you for having such an amazing eye for under-performing talent.

Agnelli, Marotta and even Conte himself said we won 2 years ahead of schedule and that they never dreamed of these results. But you ofcoarse knew it was going to happen... after all you knew we were buying two world class players that just struggled for a season with injuries and their clubs were completely blind to their imminent football explosion.
Was big fan of Pirlo in his Milan days, kinda always had been a bit jealous of their mid with Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka and Gatuso. Never discarded players after a bad season or two, especially as in his case there was an injury involved. Our interest in him enthused me. Was curious to see whether he'll regain his old form back, as Pirlo in his prime was a teriffic footballer.

Barzagli was promissing young CB while at Palermo, showed load of potential, his positioning, tackling and ability to cope rather well in 1 on 1 situations were of the highest standard. Had amazing season in Germany, consequently adding one title to his name as protagonist. Later on as the club started selling their best players and lost its coach it kind of went downhill for them. I gave him benefit of a doubt having in mind that he was once top CB for German champs and that he was still fairly young as far as defenders are concerned to make an impact here.

Both of these players achieved something significant prior to coming here, especially in Pirlo's case and certainly couldn't be labeled as nobodies. As much as Conte helped them to regain their old form back, form is temporary, but class is permanent. If these two lads didn't have it in them no coach in the world could make them perform to WC levels. They were defo interesting signings for any GM to make. Low risk high reward.

And yes, Inter's current squad is at least at the same level as our old 2011 squad.

Conte: thanks for the 3 titles.

Allegri: thanks for changing to a more exciting formation and a hopeful 4th title.
I'll give credit where it's due and kudos to Allegri for having a wonderful season so far. But he needs to win few trophies here before we start comparing the two and feel grateful to him. Only formation change isn't gonna cut it.

Its all unnecessary, because its like some or most of you have become completely incapable of acknowledging the obvious strenghts and acheivements of someone who made us a force again.

Yes Conte left in bad terms and was tactically stubborn, but that shouldnt make you for some reason choose to only remember the minor negatives and completely sidestep everything that was pretty great with him and our team BECAUSE of him.

it aint that easy. look at players for example. to me cannavaro and thuram were the best defenders i have ever seen play. thuram in particular was an artist at defending and cannavaro was an unstoppable monster

but they both will be remembered for their betrayal. one black spot can ruin a white sheet

If Allegri gets us to CL Quarterfinals, and wins the scudetto + coppa italia... does that rank as a better season than any Conte had? Has Serie A gotten better or worse over the past 3-4 years?

Our squad is clearly better than what Conte had, except for his final year with us.

This doesn't also mean that Allegri is worse or anything, but it just doesn't really make sense to compare them.

I'd say its worse right now compared to say,the 11-12 season.
It's hard to say... The middle of the league seems slightly stronger than in 11-12. 11-12 Milan is definitely a stronger side than either Roma or Napoli. 3-6/7 is more debatable as Napoli this year, might be stronger than teams like Inter and Napoli of 11-12.

I suppose the question is whether the improvement of teams like Roma, Fiorentina, Lazio, Sampdoria, Torino is enough to offset the catastrophic fall of the two Milan clubs. Napoli has probably stayed of similar strength to the Cavani years.

One thing is certain, is that the league is weaker today than it was in 09-10 and 10-11. It seem. There seems to be only one team in the league capable or deserving of a CL knockout stage place now. The very top of the league is pretty weak.

Disagree about Napoli..I think the Napoli we saw in 11-12 IMO is their best side since their promotion back to Serie A.Hamsik-Lavezzi-Cavani was a devastating trio back then. They finished 4th that year and won Coppa too so results wise, maybe they underachieved but dint do overly badly either.
We had Udinese that year too who were destroying teams for fun.Roma were a good side on paper too but it seemed like Luis Enrique was a mismatch for them.Inter were the only side that declined that season after a decent outing in the previous season(10-11).
In terms of the top 5-6,Serie A was better than it is now without a doubt imo.

This is why i highly regard Conte's achievements in his first season ,compared to any of his other seasons during his tenure considering Udinese,Napoli and Inter were all coming off great seasons.Winning the scudetto that season seemed farfetched to many including experts.
