DP was 36. Mirko was decent at best (10 goals a season striker), Bonucci was totall shi* before conte, Barzagli was just a former non starter world cup winner, Vidal was unknow commodity and Marchisio was still struggling to find his best position.

Conte changed all of that. He made a wall out of Barzagli, made Bonucci alot better, inserted Vidal in the squad and made him the best B2B in the world and gave marchisio the freedom to run between the channels and score 10 goals that season.
A 36 year old DP was still better than Milan's attack minus Ibra. What player on Milan aside from Ibra that year had 10 goals?

Like I said, the players I mentioned (bonucci/barzagli) were still better than their defense minus Silva. Vidal wasn't an unknown commodity. Maybe to you and us but certainly not unknown to the Bundesliga or Bayern that wanted to buy him.

Barzagli was always a strong CB. Bonucci, if anything, was the one that needed to grow. Marchisio was amazing in a 433 hence his goal run. That's his best formation.

Hist how can you compare contes first squad to this milan squad? We had the same core players as we do now
Indeed.

Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci, Vidal, Asamoah, Marchisio, Pirlo...all 3 years younger.

oh my god how did i forget Pirlo for free...he alone was responsible for dragging this team a lot with Vidal cleaning he way for him.

Kindly insert anywhere in your post the luxury Conte had having the support of Marotta & Agnelli behind him and not the idiots Inzaghi has.

We had DP, Mirko, Buffon, Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli just to name a new all better than anyone on that Milan team now.

Vidal. Marchisio. This list goes on. Pound for pound we were stronger all around than their Ibra-Silva. They were already on their way down as a team and Juve had the hunger to not repeat again 7th place.
Bonnuci, Barzagli and Marchisio were literal shit before Conte came around. Even less established than Alex, Mexes, Rami, let alone an old Nesta and Thiago Silva who was the world's best defender.

While we boasted the great mediocrity of Vucinic as our best attacking player they had Zlatan, Cassano, Robinho, Pato and Inzaghi in the striking positions.

We had dead and finished Pirlo, the supremely mediocre marchisio that hadnt had any decent season until then, and an exciting new signing in vidal. Our bench was the giacherrinis of the world. Milan had Van Bommel, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Muntari, Nocerino, aquilani, flamini, seedorf, and Kevin Prince Boetang in midfield.

There is just no comparing what they had and what we had. Marotta was doing what Galliani is doing today and Conte made an unstoppable force out of it. He resurrected an old veteran who we got on a freebie and built the team around him. He made a permanent old flop like Barzagli into a world class defender (also a freebie). He fixed Bonnucci whom everyone saw as a lost cause and built the best defense in Italy with him, barzagli and chiellini (the only one of them that anyone ever considered talented). He made an attack work without having a single player that was even at cassano's level let alone Ibra's .

Juve's behaviour in the transfer market was similar to the current milan. a bunch of freebies and mediocres + 1 decent signing. Conte made that into the best team in Italy.

Let's not forget, as impressive as Milans team was on paper in 2011/12 they were absolutely plagued with injuries and imo would have won the Scudetto if they weren't fielding half a new team every few weeks.

- - - Updated - - -

Conte took over a 7th placed team where Inter still had most of their good players and Milan was a strong team. What Conte did is as miraclous as inzaghi winning the scudetto with this Milan squad.

- - - Updated - - -

That is just pure bullshit.
Bullshit? How so? Last time I checked, an injury crisis messing up your club isn't a fucking debatable topic.

- - - Updated - - -

Oh and here's some more 'bullshit' to mull your fucking head over

"Milan players missed more than 300 Serie A matches in 2011-12 because of injuries, the Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani yesterday underlined his frustration at the injury crisis affecting his squad and the Gazzetta have taken a closer look at the numbers.

If you add up the amount of games that all their injured players skipped last term, it totals an astonishing 307.

The figure for Italian champions Juventus was just 44."

http://www.football-italia.net/24752/shocking-milan-injury-stats

"What started as a freak injury to Flamini in the Trofeo Berlusconi was only a mild precursor to the season. Along with Gattuso and Cassano, this was one of those injuries, which kept the player out for more than 6 months. Of course it was different for Gattuso and Cassano, for whom their entire career and life respectively was at stake. That they ultimately both returned to play some part in Milan’s Scudetto fight is a testament to their spirit.
The Italian daily, Gazzetta had listed out the number of matches that were missed by the injured players for the respective teams and Milan had comfortably topped that list far outstripping all its rivals. Once again, in stark contrast, Juventus had the fewest such missed games from injuries. At one point it became farcical as up to 13 players, most of them first team players were unavailable due to injury."

Bonucci was aways shit, with or without Conte. Disagree about the other two. Marchisio was shifted all around mid and therefore lacked consistency to be properly judged. Barzagli was one of, if not the best defender in Bundesliga, heavily involved in Wolfsburg's title success. The fact that his contract was nearing to an end and that he preferred return to his homeland made his price ridiculously low. Even under half a year during Del Neri's disastrous tenure Barzagli showed what he's capable of.

While we boasted the great mediocrity of Vucinic as our best attacking player they had Zlatan, Cassano, Robinho, Pato and Inzaghi in the striking positions. I agree they had better and more talented offensive players than us, Ibrahimovic mostly, but their midfield was old and decaying, Seedorf was on his last legs and he was by far their best mid. This should tell you enough. The rest were mediocre players. The battle was ultimately won in the middle and defense where we had physically and technically superior players.

Pure delusion. You cannot honestly believe that players like Vidal, Pirlo, Barzagli, Chiellini, or Marchisio are on the same level as some of the current Milan players.

The highlighted part above is nonsense, borderline trolling.

Hey don't get me wrong, Conte did amazing work here, but let's keep it real and don't give him credit for the things he's not responsible for.

Some weird news about Parma going bankrupt float around lately but also some talk of points being given to teams that didn't play them yet. Any truth in it? Sounds really weird.

just dont understand the blind hate for conte in this forum. I mean i can understand if some of the guys here hate him for the way he left us, but other than that Conte did revived Juventus from being a mediocre 7th placed team, why cant people just accept that as a fact and be grateful for that..
