Agreed on Spurs, I wasn't expecting them to win anything. But he had good players and went backwards. I expected them to be solid at the very least, which they weren't. They also often played the negative, deep sitting, reactive football that has been a problem under Allegri.

Chelsea he did an excellent job. It was 7 years ago though. Inter he did OK, I thought he'd do better in his first season. His 2nd he had no challenge but won the scudetto.

I think you can forgive posters for not hanging onto past glories given where we are with Allegri. I think there needs to be an appreciation that managers don't stand still. Tactics become outdated and mentality/drive/ability to relate to players can change. I'd say Conte seems more and more irritable and seems to get caught up in needless drama these days. He's always been a dramatic coach but he seems less able to let things slide, which can be a distraction for his teams.
Spot on he may be passed it and Spurs may have broke him. Judging by the football they played he looked too much like past-it Mou and Allegri.

Plus, If we get him he’ll fall into the same cycle again. He will sign on knowing we are broke and that it’ll be a gradual build and like he always does he will boost the performance > expectations will rise > he’ll ask for patience then will feel the pressure > demand players we won’t afford > fall out.

He needs a club with an open check book not a long term project he doesn’t have the stamina or patience for it.

And while we’ll probably win the league (given how weak Serie A is) before the fall out, it’ll be another cycle of Dino ball which won’t get us anywhere in Europe

Zidane or take a chance on De Zerbi (seems that he has real potential and has a football Philosophy). No more Pirlo’s or Ole types Tudor and Paladino.

Yeah but how many people ended up like Lippi ? 1,2,5, 50 out of 1 million?

I get what you are saying and I somewhat agree but not everyone is a Lippi :)
not only lippi, check conte too

inb4 not everyone is a conte

experience is important but coaches usually do good jobs before their first titles, it's just the squad that limits them. conte wouldn't have won without pirlo, buffon and the others. get good players and a relatively inexperienced coach can also bring results

You don't get what I'm saying. Not everyone can and will be a great coach. Just like not everyone will be good or great or even a football player.

People like Conte, Lippi, Sarri etc. are rare.

i get it and i disagree

conte was a huge risk and a nobody when he arrived. lippi won shit before juventus. both were pretty risky hires. if our directors would have listened to you we wouldn't have hired either of them

the next lippi and conte is out there, that's the point. it's a risky contract, but it has always been that way

It’s such a shame Pirlo didn’t work out.
