This is a very interesting video. I’m not sure if it was already posted. Obviously stats are not the full picture, but it makes a fairly strong case to say that Pirlo was unlucky and that Allegri was pretty fortunate in his first stint and that we are seeing him in his true light now (with a pretty mangled squad).

Yeah, anytime it gets mentioned by anyone without the full history of it, I kind of zone out. But harsh/similarly shortsighted calling the entire video moronic when you didn’t even bother to watch the rest though. Why don’t you just skip past that part and watch the rest.

Absolutely. That’s absolutely a supporters role, so many times at the Stadium we’ve seen the fans make that kind of difference. The Kop in Anfield genuinely seems to be able to suck the ball into the goal with their support.

But fans should also hold the team to standards and when those standards are not being met they should be able to give that reaction to the players - we would expect managers to read the riot act to players when they are not performing and the fans should do the same. Entertainment is one thing, but lazy play, misplaced passes, lacking commitment and hard work and lacking ideas will create a negative fan environment and that’s also acceptable.

We deserved to be booed for 90 mins in the samp game!
Yes, if the fans are doing their bit and putting in effort and emotional investment but the players aren't that's obviously not acceptable and the fans have a right to demand better

I actually watched the whole thing and laughed my ass off to his interpretation of xpoints vs actual points. Allegris latest scudetto we got more actual points than expected and Allegri got lucky. Pirlo got almost same but Inter won because Conte got more actual than expected. He overperformed.

One gets lucky the other overperforms :lol2:

Also Pirlo was unlucky, his xstats were great but he got unlucky.

True, definitely on yardstick with two different interpretations.

I’m not at all into the xpoints/goals stuff myself because at the end of the day if it doesn’t go in, there’s usually a good reason behind it.

On another point, I would love to have seen in an alternate reality what a second season under Pirlo would have turned out to be. Not saying it would be good, just interested to see what the evolution of his thesis would be.

Exactly.

Let’s sign mbappe and play him LM.

@Bianconero81 disappointed that you’re liking this rubbish and the revising history nonsense (max just got lucky in his first 5 years lol)

What a ridiculous analysis. This guy thinks football is played in xG. Basically someone that outperforms their xG in both areas is considered lucky and someone that underperforms against xG is unlucky
