It is hard to see a way out of this with our squad. I still don't see a system that fits.

4-2-3-1 seems the best option if everyone is fit. But even then we lack a partner for Locatelli and true CF.

We badly need an attacking player to drag the team through games, whether that is someone we have already finding form or a new signing. We need someone to bring some excitement/freshness and get a few goals/assists. You see it a lot even in failing big sides that a player pulls the team through.

Midtable clubs do lose to lower ranked clubs too, doesn't mean they're worse than them. It just means they cant string results consistently, and the players attitude and quality are not helping.

The difference between Ronaldo and no Ronaldo. He has the drive and fire to score and win regardless of the opponent. We have too many poor attitude, lazy players who can’t get up for more than a match here and there. It’s on Allegri to sort this out, and his performance thus far has also been poor, but from what we’ve seen it’s going to take a couple transfer windows to build a proper team again.
