This is not hating on Allegri, but I think that Simeone has done a better job than him in the past few years.

He has also reached two finals with an inferior team (just like Max), but he did a better job than Max in the finals themselves. Atletico lost one in ET and one on penalties. We lost both in 90 minutes.

But I thought aesthetics mattered? Simeone's style of football is almost unwatchable.

It's not about sexy football it's about being able to actually compete on the pitch and not bend over and allow teams to dominate a match against us

You can't win the CL when most of the game is played in your own half and you don't even have a counter attack

The style simeone employed to reach those finals was indeed unbearable to the eye and inevitably lost against the team with superior attack, like almost aklways happens against the usual suspects who always win.
