I always thought there was something off about the way we play compared to the top dogs in Europe, but thinking about it more it begins to make sense.

Basically, in big games, Allegri instructs his forwards to press the opponent's defenders, but our defense doesn't push up higher in the same way that Real Madrid's does (for example). This basically means that if the opponent gets past our first wave of pressing, our double pivot midfield is left very isolated. Pjanic and Khedira/Matuidi are up against 3 or sometimes even 4 opponents.

Allegri is stuck in two minds. He wants to play attacking football and he wants our forwards to press their defenders, but at the same time, he's too cautious to allow our defense to play a high line. What we are left with is a brand of football where our forwards spend more far more time chasing the ball than playing with it, and where we have absolutely no control in midfield. Then when we do get the ball, our forwards are too tired to counter.

We have to decide whether we want to play like Real Madrid or Atletico. This 4-2-3-1 is fools gold that will get found out by any organized top team. Real Madrid and Barcelona have both battered us by a 3 goal margin in our last 3 European games because it's too easy to play against a team that leaves a double pivot midfield so isolated.

I wouldn't put so much on Max. Buffon gave a goal, Paulo missed a penalty, ref used Var like Fifa Handicap in Ultimate Team. He made some weird calls but not in a nonsense level

Hate to say it, but despite our hatred for international breaks it came at a good time...

Khedira, Pjanic, marchisio and MDS are recovering and hopefully available by the time we start up again.

Max needs full availability to start tinkering to get the right lineup and motivation again. This Lazio game will be very important to send a message to the league that nothing has changed.

Statistically our attack is producing more than the last 50 years...we have the ammo up top we need to see a mental doc though. We seem to be tumbling down a mental rabbit hole

In CL, we could play 4-3-3 if we need another mid to avoid being run over. Dybala can play CF at the expense of Higuain.

Ancelloti to azzuri
Allegri to bayern
VENTURA to juve
Allegri gone wouldnt be the end of the world but Ventura is the worst coach in the history of Italian football.. Seriously its like when they chose the National side coach they said ok here is the list - all of them have clubs but Ventura lets get him and here is Italy now looking like a joke and drawing weak opponents...
Conte`s Italy was 10 times as good as this Italy and Verratti was out injured...

On another news our lack of ambitions is very annoying - "CL not a priority" - Why not?! Why not try to be the best in Europe?! Why settle for being among the top 8 like a low level club.. No wonder all of our stars wants out..

Honestly if this is the mentality I hope we get sold to some oil money club as at least they spend high in order to be the best (see PSG example)
I dont want us to be like PSG but I do want us to show some balls and start fighting for that title which we didnt win over 20 years!

It is sad to see a club like Napoli keep all their key players but we are selling our key players for past three years on top our net spending for the past two seasons is so low no wonder allegri has the toughest job to find out our best starting lineup and best formation
