I do like Allegri but he frustrates me with his obsession with defending. I do not believe we can win CL with him. Even if you give him Suarez, Messi and Neymar he will find a reason to leave one of them on the bench and play Sturaro, Khedira or Rincon. He just thinkers schemes but his underlining philosophy has not changed at all since he arrived.

Good, positive substitutions. At the moment we began to look shaky he promptly subbed on Dybala. He showed his trust in Bernardeschi and Bentancur to keep a clean sheet rather than throwing on a defender like he's done in the past. Who knows if he'd have done the same if Barzagli had been fit.
I'm very much in favor of a three man midfield. The unbalance that the 4-2-3-1 gives the side is plain to see. We've gone to having a two-man attack with a diamond of center midfielders (even Vidal playing in the hole) to having four pure attackers and two midfielders. It makes Pjanic easier to mark and he doesn't have the skills or strength to find his own space. I don't understand why we didn't buy Tolisso. Marotta had never bought players with a system in mind before.

And yet these tactics got us heavily beaten in two finals. I am not doubting his quality. I am doubting that his quality is enough to deliver the big prize and deliver it in style because he is a stubborn, risk averse tactician. I am convinced that we have one of the best squads in Europe and we even spent more money than Real Madrid in the last six years on transfers. So he has to win CL or must go. He is not yet Capello but will become one - a coach only for internal consumption.
