Allegri demands 'balance & poise’

Max Allegri believes that “with balance and poise, Juventus will go far on all fronts” this season.
Allegri was speaking at his first Serie A Press conference of the season for Sunday’s opener against Cagliari, but the Coach began by paying a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack in Barcelona on Thursday, which saw 14 people lose their lives.
“My first thoughts are inevitably with the victims of Barcelona,” stated the Coach.
“It’s more important at this time than a game of football. Our children will find a worse and much harder world to live in. It’s a very sad day.
“Cagliari? Tomorrow we have our first game of the season and it’s always something of an unknown quantity.
“There are no contradictions in our transfer campaign, and we needed a new midfielder, but Matuidi’s not a Juve player and I’m only talking about Juventus players here.
“Difficulty? When you win in Italy for six years and do well in Europe, it’s difficult to improve, your opponents strengthen themselves and the margin for error decreases.
“The season begins tomorrow, but it definitely starts from September 1, when the market closes.
“For the Champions League, it all depends on the League. If we have a great League campaign, we can progress in the Champions League. They are two things that go hand in hand.
“Supercoppa? Since the 10th minute of the first half, we were poor technically and had a bad game.
“We need to improve in this regard because it’s clear that if you lose balls like we did last Sunday, you risk conceding goals.

Juventus boss Max Allegri says “there are parallels with 2015”, Mattia De Sciglio must “find his feet” and that Paulo Dybala needs to “prove” he is world-class.
In the second part of his Press conference for Saturday’s Serie A opener against Cagliari, Allegri also joined the calls for the transfer window to be shut before the first match, backed VAR to “bring about benefits” and made it clear he trusted his players.
“Parallels with after Berlin in 2015? There are some, so we have to work with balance and ease ourselves into the season,” continued the coach.
“We started late [for preseason] and the market is still open, so we need to be careful and focused.
“The market should close earlier, teams should be completed by the start of the season. I hope it happens.
“For a top European team to remain a top one, you need mental balance, regardless of your results.
“If we don’t beat Cagliari tomorrow, everything is back under the microscope and what we’ve done in previous years is history.
“We have to think about picking up three points tomorrow and then pick up three more in the next game.
“VAR? It’s new technology, you have to see how it develops [before judging it], but it can certainly bring about benefits.
“The hardest thing is managing it because there may be games that go on for a very long time.
“The good thing is that when VAR is adopted, there’ll be a minute’s time-out, like in basketball.
