Not so sure about that

He used Lemina as the deeper cm and pjanic as a cm and it worked pretty good. Hence Lemina played there most of the time.

Today we played Pjanic as regista and it clearly wasent working well.
it didnt work because the other midfielders werent moving without the ball. it was a very static midfield and Pjanic couldn't do much

He has used Lemina as regista in each game the guy started. Hence this was the first game where Pjanic started as the regista

Why ? Cause he's rotating and checking out how his players do in sup-optimal roles.
Yeah, he's experimenting I guess.

Well, hopefully he has learnt his lesson now, though.

I wanna see a drastic improvement, midfield-wise, in our next couple of games.

Take the Pogba BS elsewhere please or go find a place in the Ratcafe forum. This is an Allegri thread and please don't pollute it with Pogba mentions.

Higuaín should've really started today and that is what bugged me.
Exactly, no time to look in the past his gone. We didn't get a replacement but problem isn't midfield too much but just the mentality. A defeat in derby d'italia will invite plenty of pressure on Allegri. It's time even he should know to change things.. sooner than later.

I disagree. We are stacked either way. The squad has been upgraded to a level above. It's down to the coach how to use it. He has plenty of options yet he has chosen to play a weaker lineup in two of the biggest games of this month. This is my gripe. When you play in two big games, you field your best players no matter what.
Who's to say he won't do the same against a top opponent in the CL going forward just because of 'experience' or 'defensive stability' ?

Imo Marotta has done an amazing job in terms of stacking up our offensive options.

I have to say one thing. When we had a mercato like this year, you can't blame people for having high expectations or criticising Allegri for that matter.
Where are we stacked though? Defense? Sure, having Benatia and Rugani plus our 3 cbs and our fullbacks is something any top team would dream of.

Now the attack has certainly been improved but are we stacked? We have two wingers in Cuadrado and Pjaca when we don't even play wing based formations, we have Higuain and Mandzukic for CF which is pretty good but then do we have a vice Dybala? No. And sooner or later he'll need his rest. So not stacked in the attack, not for this formation anyway.

What about our mid? Who's Pogba's replacement? Pjanic? Then who plays regista? Hernanes/ Lemina or Asamoah. Are they good enough for the first team? No. So I don't fully agree were stacked , we have a lot of average players who might or might not be good enough for Serie A, but certainly not against big teams in Europe.

Marchisio? Not fit. Will he be as good as before post injury? We don't know. So IMO we should start experiment with other formations since our mid is nowhere as good as it was a couple years back. Make use of our wingers, why not.

Experimenting is all fair and dandy if you do against some relegation scrub. Despite Inter's inconsistencies , it's still a massive derby and the biggest in Italy. You don't fuck around in a game of this magnitude. And you know what ? This win will probably turn their season around which is even more annoying.

I agree with you.

I said what he is doing, not that i agree with him. We underestimated Inter and the derby. Hence, i did before the game thinking the formation was enough (somehow missing "oh, Pjanic is playing as regista"), but Allegri shouldnt have.

- - - Updated - - -

Because he would go missing and the few times you see him is when he is screaming at team mates or screaming at himself after trying to dribble 5 defenders instead of playing the easy pass.
Basically what he's doing at united at the moment ?

No I really don't. Pogba is not the excuse for our shit show today. He would be better than Asamoah? sure. But he had a tendency of playing bad when team was playing bad and today was one of those days
there wasnt any threat from our midfield today going forward, most our attacks went through AS or Dybi. a player like him would have helped. if he would have an off game or not, thats something i cant predict but hed most likely make us play better than we did with Asa

Yeah. They were struggeling today because there was no holding midfielder.

You know, exactly like last season. When did it change ?

.....When Marchisio returned.
And thats what would have made the difference today. Marchisio.

Him holding the midfield and Pjanic beeing LCM

i absolutely wont write an essay on this again so you can AGAIN ignore it and continue with the same BS. Pjanic in the holding role would have done just fine if he had quality players on both sides, no problem there. what made the difference today was the lack of a 3rd quality midfielder on the left, whether that would have been Pjanic with someone else in his role or someone else i wont go into

The best part is that history is repeating itself, as we needed that holding mid today to move pjanic to his preferred position, while Pogba is beeing just as dogshit horrible at united

Imo Allegri is experimenting and rotating alot at the moment. Considering the amount of muscular injuries last season, i'm not against it.

We need to top the group and remain in the top3 of the league before newyear. Go full throttle after that
For all the hight and mighty talk you love to portrait you do, sometimes you spill such stupidity from your mouth that it gives embarrasment even to me and im not the one posting it.

'Experimenting'

Yeah some $#@!ing amazing experiments going on there. Instead of testing out a different formation he's persisting with a $#@! Asamoah and 3-5-2. Quality experimentation.
 same toughts here.

Its like a madman laboratory.

Looks like Allegri is losing the plot. He's completely out of ideas and his stubborn approach of not changing anything is going to cost us.
he is clueless and incompetent. in his third year, still too scared to make his own mark but instead playing it safe, preserving the status quo.

$#@! 3-5-2 really. no top club touching that $#@! should tell you something even if you are not that bright.

And about zizi comment on Pogba....come on man...its is almost proved now that Pogba needs top class to baby sit him, if not...he goes into dab mode and makes his team lose.

Pogba would have been disgraceful with the amount of shid that is going on in our midfield today.

maybe i exaggerate, but we were losing possession too easily at times and Pogba is excellent at holding the ball, i feel like he would help us in taking off the pressure of Pjanic and the backline. too me thats very important which is why i said it would help a lot

we have Pjanic. if tactics are right it would work fine
That's true for sure. One of the problems was that Inter was pressing us, and we played quite defensively. Icardi actually made life quite difficult for Pjanic. Just like the Sevilla game, if we didn't approach the game so defensively and fielded our best attackers, and pressed Inter, Pjanic wouldn't have been under so much pressure when in possession. The problem is that we didn't force Inter to play deep. A guy like Cuadrado would help there too because he really causes chaos with his dribbling. At this point IMO, you also need to play Pjanic as a LCM and put in Hernanes as the regista when Lemina isn't in, for the mere fact that he played well there last year when Marchisio first went down.
