Juve Set Sights On Mascherano
1/19/2005 12:57:00 PM
After Appiah’s recent failings with Juventus, the Bianconeri are looking for a midfielder to add onto their squad during this January transfer window.
River Plate’s Javier Mascherano is now being touted as the player on top of Capello’s wish list.

In order to sign the player, the Biacooneri must beat Inter and Chelsea’s stiff competition.

If the deal gets completed, Appiah will need be sold in order to free up a non-EU spot on the Juve squad as Mascherano does not yet own a European passport.
Wait a minute. Mark, I thought you posted earlier that Mascherano has an Italian passport?

I hope Moggi can secure this deal because Javier is obviously better than Appiah.

    Let's sell Appiah to Atl-Madrid + $$$ for Pablo and
    buy Mascherano and give them Salas finally + $$$.

    Pablo + Mascherano > Appiah + Iuliano + Legrottaglie + Salas

    I like that idea very much.

    So basically we let go Appiah, Iuliano, Legrottaglie, Ferrara, Tudor, and Zalayeta, and replace them with Mascherano, Pablo, Miguel, Chiellini, and Mutu respectively. I think that would be enough for next season. However, I keep having this feeling that Maxwell will come to Juve. Unless Nedved leaves, I do not see him playing a role in the side. If you had to call it now Mark, which players do you think will be at Juve next season?

    Let's say 10 players leave:(if we win the CL; 7 left in 2004)

    Iuliano------------------------>Masiello(Primavera player)
    Legrottaglie-----------------> Meghni
    Ferrara-----------------------> Barzagli
    Pessotto---------------------> Chiellini
    Montero----------------------> Pablo
    Appiah------------------------> Mascherano or Obodo
    Tudor-------------------------> Nonda
    Kapo--------------------------> Maxwell
    Zalayeta---------------------> Mutu
    Birindelli----------------------> Miguel

    Moggi surprises: Essien, Hleb, Giannichedda, Chivu, Maicon, Behrami, Rodriguez, Rosicky, Pazzini, Iaquinta, Caracciolo, Cassano...

    That many Mark? You know more than anyone that if the season is a success not many changes would be made over the summer. I like the prospect of Meghni coming because of the Legro loan.

    Yes, remember when we won in 96, Vialli, Ravanelli, Porrini, Torricelli............................all left.

    Besides that, we have a lot of old men to get rid.

    Montero, Ferrara and Pessotto's contracts end this summer. I don't think we'll sign them.

    Birindelli and Tudor could stay but I like Miguel a lot. He would be my starting RB putting Zebina on the bench.

    Anyway ,we really need Mascherano or Maresca now. Given the fact that Emerson is out for a fortnight and Appiah and Tacchinardi just don't cut it anymore.
