Yes, he has been improving. But as I said, he hasn't been tested defensively in the Udiense game or any of the games where he hasn't looked bad. He still makes me nervous and for games like Bordeaux and inter I would much prefer to see Grygera or Zebina playing than him.

His speed helps make up for his inability to read the game. Canna and chiellini need to be on top of reading the game especially canna on the right to make sure they are their for support.

It'll be interesting to see how he does the first he's really tested and put under pressure in a game.

As M.G said about, and I (Alen plus others) said in the match thread, praising him for his defensive game against Udinese wasnt warranted (offensive is), because he was tested at all by Isla, while tonight showed what happens when you are faced with mobile players that come at you at all times. Just too nervous and erratic in his defending. Even if he wasnt too bad in first half and one of the few decent players (later on though...).

I feel like the potential will always be there because of his extreme athleticism but I'm starting to fear that he really has no hope in developing a mental part of the game.

Caceres was one of the few players who showed any motivation or hunger in the first half, but his defence and overall performance really let us down in the second half.

isn't his original position as a center back, you can't expect much better from someone that is playing out of position
Believe me, he's not better as a CB either.

Anyhow atleast the guy is on loan here thats the only positive thing that came out from Secco for the past few years here....

My main problem with him is the constant giving away of needless freekicks around the area.

Losing your man at set pieces can happen now and again, but this guys decision making when it comes to tackling is really starting to piss me off.

He could've easily gotten a second yellow with that risky sliding tackle from behind after he got raped by a dummy/turn.

His athleticism is the only thing that's saving him at the moment; I hope Ciro can teach him a thing or two about defending.
