Well, Pat, to show to how weak the people in charge of are mercato were last year heres how it is: After a season on Barcelona's bench we got him on loan with an option to be for €11 million plus €1 million in variable payments. Now, this year after Martin played in the World Cup semi-final and was fairly good for Juventus, he signed for Seville with an option to purchase for €5 million. Meh.

We had one of the dumbest sporting director ever to grace the game. The man wasted almost 180 millions on players and yet we had countless of holes in the team.

Sevilla Defender Martin Caceres: La Liga Is Superior To Serie A, Italian Football Is In DeclineSevilla defender Martin Caceres has claimed that La Liga is of a superior standard to Serie A, and added that he feels Italian football is in decline.

Caceres spent last season on loan at Juventus from Barcelona, and when asked of his opinion of both leagues in an interview with Diario de Sevilla, he commented: “It is totally different football. In Italy it is much more physical, and more tactical. Spanish football is nicer, with more space.

“I’d say that Italian football is in decline. It has been noted. Football in Spain, apart from being different, is much better.”

Caceres also confessed that he and his team-mates are still reeling from their comprehensive 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Barcelona last month.

Doubles from David Villa and Lionel Messi sent the Blaugrana on their way to a comprehensive triumph over los Nervionenses, and Caceres, on loan from the Camp Nou to the Andalucian side, insisted that the players have yet to fully recover from the humiliation of their defeat.

The 23-year-old said of the match: “Yes, it was very difficult. This field, against this opponent, with the 11 players that we faced, it was an uphill battle. We are very angry. We wanted to make our game better, but what happened, happened.

“The result was large, and no one likes losing by that amount, but it happened. I belong to Barcelona, and have a contract with the club, but I am defending the shirt of another. Unfortunately, however, we lost.”
