At the very least, if he wants to, he can substantially increase the quality of life for those he cares about or give something meaningful back to the background he comes from. 80m also gives you more power than 30m would if you use it in smart ways.

That's the thing. It doesn't. Unless you're talking small start up biotech companies, drug research costs billions, not millions. So on the one hand you have small biotech companies, often working with just a couple of million dollars, on the other you have big pharma, working with billions. Witsel's extra 50m means nothing either way.
