Juventus keen on Motta sale after injury

Bianconeri coach, Antonio Conte, has dropped a bombshell on fans around the world ahead of Juventus' home tie with Genoa. Marco Motta, a fringe player for the Old Lady, has suffered a shoulder injury while playing, of all sports, water polo. It is expected to rule him out for a minimum of 40 days after scans revealed damaged to his right rotator cuff.

"It is fairly serious", said Conte. "I cannot find the words to express how regretful we are for this injury. He is important for the team as he can play beautiful football."

Motta, who has struggled to hold down a regular first team place since his career started in Atalanta 10 years ago, has again found himself on the outer at Juventus this season after consecutive unsuccessful loan spells at Catania and Bologna, managing only 32 games in two seasons.

When asked about Motta's future, Conte was somewhat cagey, although seemed to hint at a Juventus exit.

"Italian football does not have the finances to compete with some clubs from the La Liga or England. We do, however, need to balance the books to attract quality talent."

"(Martin) Caceres has already begun making jokes. He opened the door yesterday to the rehabilitation centre after Marco, yelled out 'Marco Polo', and quickly exited the facility. Marco did take this lightly as they share a tough bond."

Juventus, who have lost their last two matches away at Fiorentina and Real Madrid, will look to bounce back against Genoa with a strong win.
