what subs? with Amauri, Toni, Iaquinta gone and Quag not impressing Conte, as it seems, you don't have enough players up-front to speak of subs.
anyways, once you do your winter/summer in-house cleaning, with or without Borriello, you'll have the space and money to buy a proper star striker to appease the fans ... weather you'd get the right guy, that remains to be seen.

We were still gonna need a player with brains upfront, which Vucinic is, as much as you refuse to believe it.
The truth is that we needed both Vucinic and a Vidic to build a competitive team, and we were still gonna lack a top quality forward up front. Having only one of Vidic or Vucinic was gonna bring more or less the same success this year, although I think that having Vidic without Vucinic was gonna bring us 2-3 less pts than having Mirko instead of Vidic.

If we could find someone to pay us 15m eur for Matri, which we won't, then replacing him with Borriello is acceptable, but not something to be thrilled about. Borriello will be 30 in June so even if he has a good half season where he scores 8-10 goals, like Matri did in the 2nd half of last season, I will push more towards not buying him.
I just don't want us to sign someone to spend his last professional years with us, unless he's proven quality, which Borriello isn't. What can he give us in his 30's when he rarely did anything worthy for the most part of his career? He's not a bad player but there is no serious point in buying him.

Quaq last year proved that he can be that player as well and further more be more prolific for the same playing time, Giovinco could too, if you are only interested at creating and would rather prefer just a left sided Pepe, than a second possible forward. (not like the midget scored any less this year)
We had options, esp for a non CL year, quaqs was enough IMO and some cheaper depth would do.
Vidic for the defense would seal the holes from this year and the next ones and with the CL appeal yet again, we would only have to buy a serious forward.

Quag keeps proving that he's a CF. It's perfectly obvious that in this Juve he's fighting with Matri for a starting spot, not with Vucinic. Having both Quag and Matri at the same time will result with more matches like the one in Udinese, when we begged for pure talent and a bit of brains.
So, even if we started Quag this season, which he indeed deserved last year, it should have been at the expense of Matri. We were gonna be a good number of points behind Milan if we had a Quag-Matri-Pepe trio up front and Marchisio would have had some 1-2 goals instead of 6. Yeah, we were gonna concede some 2-3 goals less. Or 2-3 more if Chiellini partnered Vidic and kept playing the way he did as a CB at the start of the year.
