who often you buy 3 players and only one of them turns out to be worth his money ... with all these loans we will happily send back all players that failed of the season (and one season is enough to evaluate that) and only make the deal permanent for the players that did bring something to the table. what if aquilani is always injured ? no problem, they can have him back ... same goes for the other loans. we were sure that we needed a new centreback and we got bonucci on permanent. we were sure we needed a replacement for camo so we got krasic. for the others its more like "better have some player you're not yet convinced by for the position you need than having no player at all for that position".

I understand the principle behind the loan with an option to buy, but I don't understand why would do that so much.

Why not actually scout players instead of pulling random names off the Azzurri squad sheet?

As it stands, Juve have two options next season either let the loaned players go or overpay for them to avoid having to refill a lot of the squad. Taking someone like Aquilani on loan or even older players you know you're only going to have for a season makes sense. But not guys like Quag and Borrielo. This reeks of panic-purchasing, which is what it is.

Generally, you spend a while looking at players before you even think about making an offer. That's what your back room staff (scouts, coaches, etc) is for. Even without a full time manager they should always be working to come up with player files to present to the new manager.

Everyone is Morratti's secret agent right? Marotta is doing the best he can with a team that ended up in 7th place last season. Juventus are not in Champions League which deters players from joining our squad. Picking up players like Bonucci, Krasic and Aquilani are great signings for mid-table finish last season.

Marotta is one hundred percent better than Secco, if we qualify for Champions League next season our funds will go up, and more players will be attracted to our club making it easier to sign world-class players. Secco had it easy.

Not to defend Secco or anything, but he had to rebuild a team that went to Serie B into a protagonist in Serie A. He made quite a few stupid transfers but I'd argue Marotta had an easier situation than him.
