He is inconsistent tbh, has some games where he is really good but then some other games where he is less so, might also depend on who he is paired with and what role or tasks he is given to bring the best out of him, overall he can be a solid part of a working system and the type of versatile midfielder that we need, however what i’d say annoys me most about him is how fast or easily he gets himself booked and that too many times he comes really close to getting a second yellow unless he is subbed off or starts to play safer which therefore limits him for the rest of that game, needs to be smarter about the way he manages himself during games in order to become an truly reliable player.

I think he will be more of a classic CM and not necessarily a B2B in the Vidal/Barella sense of the role, Locatelli is not that great as a full time box to box and neither as a full time regista but is however good enough at both and can always play as a LCM/RCM that at times also drops deeper to take pressure off Paredes and start moves, also from the same classic left CM or right CM role he can be more involved in the final third overall by not always being so deep and gives him a bit of a free roam to also get more in the opposition box as a B2B type but overall to be involved essentially everywhere, which is what he is good at, not great at something specific but quite well rounded and decently good in every midfield role, rather dynamic in a sense, very usefull and efficient in terms of defensive cover too for when fullbacks or other CM’s are caught further up the pitch.
Thats pretty much what I meant when comparing him with Khedira. Not sure getting a regista specialist is gonna make Locatelli or the team that much better though.

Regarding the comparison, yes i agree, there are similarities although he might not exactly have the directness of Khedira, still he too has goals in him.

I also don’t think Paredes is the answer but i’d say it might benefit Locatelli in some ways to have a more free role if Allegri really has his mind set on using a deep regista and doesn’t yet trust Rovella to start there, don’t want Locatelli forced as regista when it limits his creativity and for most parts keeps him away from involving himself in potentially more goals and assists.

That’s true too.
