Mancini set for Roma exit?

There are strong reports that Amantino Mancini will follow Antonio Cassano out of Roma during the January transfer window.
The Brazilian winger hasn’t set foot on the playing field for the last six weeks due to a calf strain and has managed just eight appearances for the club this season.
During his last game, the player was insulted by fans who considered him a traitor for alleged transfer talks between agent Gilmar Veloz and Juventus during the final days of the summer market.
It was claimed that the Bianconeri had offered £4m, a bid that could be presented again this month with a more positive outcome.
Unlike former teammate Cassano, however, Mancini’s contract is not set to expire until 2009, so Roma are in no hurry to sell up.
Nonetheless, the Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that his time at the Stadio Olimpico is up following a pay rise request.
The Giallorossi have plenty of problems to contend with at the moment, as they cannot sign any new players until July as a result of the Philippe Mexes case.
The loss of Cassano to Real Madrid has also left them with a shortage of strikers, as Shabani Nonda and Vincenzo Montella are struggling with long-term injuries.
There were hopes that Montella would be back in action after back surgery, but he continues to train on a special schedule.

Btw, did any of you catch Mancini in the Coppa Italia match against Napoli yesterday? Spalletti played him in Totti's traditional position. No, seriously. Not on the wing. Not at the back. Set back just from the forwards and center of goal.
