I informed about this in both the first and second game (and I did it for this game too to remind everyone of it again since it wasnt in the copy pasted manual), and BOTH times it worked as should have, with Sabet she picked randomly in FIRST day when a civilian hadnt died yet (and it has to be random), and with Iceman when there has been days past, and there were ghost civilians to put in a vote (randomly choose between the dead, or whoever is online and available, like Sheik says above). And this IS more practical then randomly choosing who, that is just too much of a chance for a game that is supposed to be about swaying people (and this makes the narrator, albeit indirectly, part of the game, and its not ideal).
A dead civilian in this rare case is still indirectly a part of the game so to speak, the civilians AND Gs has to convince them like anyone, by how they act in the thread, and the dead civilian simply follows the thread and then makes a choice between the two candidates when such a sitaution comes up, without posting ANYTHING but their simple vote between those two choices.
Its defenitely quicker and more fair then random pick, everything that happens this game is supposed to be decided by the judgements of others, its better then random chance (unless we dont have an alternative like first day). Random chance doesnt really make sense for such a game like this (imagine losing due to that, instead of the good or poor judgement of another person, feels hollow). Doesnt matter if its unfair or biased judgement, its PART of the game, part of the dynamic of it all, the tiff for taff judgement calls with every scenario.
ONLY thing that should be randomly picked in this game is the distribution of the roles. There seems to be questions raised about that for every game, but essentially it MUST be random, or this game doesnt simply work. Imagine having to analyze who and why the narrator gave the roles to based on his likes and whims? And that just because someone was G last time, its highly unlikely that same narrator will give the role to that individual and clearing them? Ruins the foundation of the game, hence why its vital its random pick (I have had games where I was G 2-3 times in a row, its weird but happens, and its up to you to fool others by saying its unlikely you are G again blabla).
