I informed about this in both the first and second game (and I did it for this game too to remind everyone of it again since it wasnt in the copy pasted manual), and BOTH times it worked as should have, with Sabet she picked randomly in FIRST day when a civilian hadnt died yet (and it has to be random), and with Iceman when there has been days past, and there were ghost civilians to put in a vote (randomly choose between the dead, or whoever is online and available, like Sheik says above). And this IS more practical then randomly choosing who, that is just too much of a chance for a game that is supposed to be about swaying people (and this makes the narrator, albeit indirectly, part of the game, and its not ideal).

A dead civilian in this rare case is still indirectly a part of the game so to speak, the civilians AND Gs has to convince them like anyone, by how they act in the thread, and the dead civilian simply follows the thread and then makes a choice between the two candidates when such a sitaution comes up, without posting ANYTHING but their simple vote between those two choices.

Its defenitely quicker and more fair then random pick, everything that happens this game is supposed to be decided by the judgements of others, its better then random chance (unless we dont have an alternative like first day). Random chance doesnt really make sense for such a game like this (imagine losing due to that, instead of the good or poor judgement of another person, feels hollow). Doesnt matter if its unfair or biased judgement, its PART of the game, part of the dynamic of it all, the tiff for taff judgement calls with every scenario.

ONLY thing that should be randomly picked in this game is the distribution of the roles. There seems to be questions raised about that for every game, but essentially it MUST be random, or this game doesnt simply work. Imagine having to analyze who and why the narrator gave the roles to based on his likes and whims? And that just because someone was G last time, its highly unlikely that same narrator will give the role to that individual and clearing them? Ruins the foundation of the game, hence why its vital its random pick (I have had games where I was G 2-3 times in a row, its weird but happens, and its up to you to fool others by saying its unlikely you are G again blabla).

Why not just PM a random user that is online then and ask him to pick a name?
Because if there is a tie between JBF and Sabet and they ask Sheik Yerbouti as a random user who doesn't know about the game to pick one, he'll sure pick Sabet and Sabet will get lynched then :p

Seriously, how is it different from the narrator picking one randomly?

Things never go based on the rules in the internet games. As Alen said, dead civilians might ask their (still) alive friends to tell them their roles. I assure you that it happened in the last games :D
It's not the "poor" judgment of the dead civilians which matters here, they might be knowing about the roles and this makes their judgment unfair.

Not to forget that the dead Cs might be offline at that moment.

Unless they were SHOWN the roles as proof with pms (cheating), any other way they are told doesnt matter more then usual, it goes under the typical ways of the game, being told stuff and taking it for what it is as usual, even if you are dead. I for one lied to dead civilians still when I was a G :p

And it need to function with the rules because they are there for a purpose, its used for a reason. Random picking doesnt really work for a game like this.

Well then I don't want to play this game again.

That would be a really weird reason to not to :p

And yeah if there is NO dead civilian available to do the task, then the narrator would have to make it random. But usually, after couple of days/deaths, there should be some civilians around.

Thats true, in general, but this particular scenario of draw, a dead civilian has to step in to help out, with NOTHING but simply voting between the two drawed candidates. As a solution, its more useful one then random pick.

I agree, voting via PM is really stupid, but it should have been clearly outlined in the first place...now it's just creating confusion.

this is crazy yo'all....a vote is a vote...in the first day i voted via pm, let's do that voting again..
But how can one vote via PM?
If everyone votes via PM how can the civilians realize who the G's are? That's gonna be impossible. The voting being public is the main rule of this game.

If you're not here during voting time then you don't vote at all. It's as simple as that.

I thought it was pretty obvious. I don't think any other past game has had voting via PM.

We have to ask Osman about this.

Exactly the whole idea of the game is to identify G's looking at their behavior and voting patterns, without that, what is the game about really?
