Maduro catches Juventus eye Thursday 13 October, 2005

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italian champions Juventus are reportedly monitoring the performances of Ajax youngster Hedwiges Maduro.

Transfer guru Luciano Moggi has been impressed with the 20-year-old, who has already been likened to Edgar Davids and Frank Rijkaard in his homeland.

Moggi is understood to have sent scout Franco Ceravolo to the Czech Republic – Holland tie last week to watch the player.

Holland won the game 2-0 and Maduro underlined his potential with a powerful performance in the World Cup clash.

The youngster, who should appear at the German Finals next year, is contracted to the Dutch giants until 2008 and currently earns just £200,000 a season.

Ajax is the best source for good young players , they have the best youth system in football
Yeah, although it's getting annoying with youngsters leaving before they get a chance to shine. At least Chivu and Ibrahimovic played well during multiple seasons. Now it seems that De Jong and Heitinga will leave for nothing - without having achieved anything.

Maybe next summer. He wouldn't leave in the winter break and risk not being included in the world cup squad. Besides, Ajax aren't exactly keen on selling him.
