do you realize that no big team play with true CF anymore? even guys like ibra, cavani and falcao are quite far from the type of inzaghi and trezeguet; ibra, cavani and falcao are more fitting in the SS category.
then you have gomez, van persie, rooney, benzema, higuain, suarez etc, non of them are true CF like in the days of old.
and finally messi and cr7, obviously they aren't CF, they never were.
why insist on CF when there aren't any and the supposed top of the category is below par these so called not true CF?
This is because of Barca and the Spain NT, but because they can afford to play like that, t doesnt means that anyone cans.
We have managed to emulate in a great degree that kind of football and i dont hate it.
BUT, we dont have the same quality, it could be enough vs the weak Italian teams, bit not the strongest ones and not in Europe!
In such derbies the weakness of our current offensive options cost us dearly and this must stop.
Since players like Drogba and Zlatan who can score and create are very rare and expensive
and since we have the creativity very well covered with a great variety of options, we should now focus on the finishing characteristics.
And if we cant sign a DP, Drogba, Zlatan, Benzema, Messi and have to settle with a compromise, the compromise who can do less overall , but smth good enough and that smth should be the finishing, because this is what we lack the most.
The last forwards we got, Iaquinta, Amauri, Matri, Quaq, Vucinic, Giovinco were all great overall, but none of them was a consistent finisher (only Quaq but he is not consistent)
they could score, but not consistent enough. This is why i criticised their acquisition and this is why i criticise this one as well.
Good player, but not whatwe need atm.
After securing the Llorente, then by all means grob the Sanchez, Jovetic and Muriels of the world.
But as it stands, we need to invest more on a finisher, imo a Cavani-Giovinco/Vucinic partnership would be far more productive than a Muriel-Llorente/Pazzini one.
Because i believe that the optimal way to improve is by upgrading your weakest link, before you fine tune what is already working in a satisfacatory way.
You focus too much on the term rather than the meaning. Cron wants, what I want, what anyone with basic understanding of football and who follows Juve wants...namely, a striker whose capable, above all else, of scoring goals. no matter how he gets his goals, he gets his goals. Its great if you can have a rooney or benzema or ibra or mesi, but that doesnt detract from the fact that what our offence lacks is a player, whatever term of position you want to give him, whose main job and main talent is scoring goals. Forget about categories, just try to understand that when people say we need a CF a prima punta, its invariably an attempt to say 'we are crying the $#@! out, game after game, for a player whose prime job, prime talent is scoring goals'.
Exactly, i wouldnt mind a DP who can score as easy as he can create, pass, dribble, but the prime characteristic of the next forward acquisition should be is ability to score with consistency!
