Formations can change during the match:

5-3-2 to 3-5-2
4-4-2 to 4-5-1 (4-2-3-1)
4-3-3 to 4-5-1 (4-2-3-1)
3-4-3 to 3-6-1

I don't think it's about the formation but more about the capability of a coach to field the right players to make his tactics work. At the end, most formations can be a success or a failure.

Personally, I have nothing against any formation as long as it's used considering the players' abilities (Lippi talk). :D
But Juve had to play 4-3-1-2, which is just about the most predictable and inflexible formation out there.

I'm not saying it can't be flexible, just that it is less flexible than most formations.

It doesn't naturally change shape the way some other systems do, but it can certainly be adapted, if you have reasonably intelligent players.

Formations are not important. Selecting the right players and choose the correct tactics depending on the opponent are the most valuable factors in football.

You can be humiliated playing the famous 4-2-3-1 (Napoli this season) and win with the 'simple' 4-4-2 (Real Madrid last season), if you don't have the above.

Good luck to him if he joins. I don't like his appointment. But if he's the entrusted with taking us back to at least a respectable position, then I guess I have to support him.

Not too sure about this, it kind of makes one ask, where is Juve heading anyway?

Ask the question: who should be the next coach last winter when Rocky had to leave, and i am sure, besides names like Hiddink, when we talk about long term, about this moment NOW, if not managers like Hiddink and Capello which are out of our league anyway as it seems, i am sure many thought about Prandelli, maybe Gasperini and so on. I for one def didnt think about Del Neri to take over after this season even if he had a good season.

And thats the thing now. Is our board really that clueless? Who ever is up there. I guess Marotta knows something what we might not know, but in the end, he just came here also. I am talking about our people at the helm of this club. Did they just looked at the standings and said: "Who ever gets the 4th spot, will be hired". I def feel like this. So one has to wonder, what if Palermo had made 4th spot?

Its Del Neris past what worries me. His time at Roma was terrible. And he already took over from Rudi Voller, Roma was in a big mess.

This Juve is also in big mess. Is Del Neri really up for it? Lets also check some facts.

Del Neri is just 2 years younger than Lippi. Yet this season was Del Neris biggest highlight of his career. And now hitting 60 this autumn, its not like his something special, or is he now? Ancelotti for example is 50 years old. And compare the cv-s.

Realistically speaking, i dont expect us to win serie a next year anyway, too much to improve, so many players need to be replaced. And we might not have the money to do it all in one season. Also the new team needs time to start "clicking".

I just think that this might be a step too far for Del Neri. I think Samp was a match made in heaven for him. I am not taking any credit away from him, it was a great achievement. Last season Samp finished 13th!

But still...if we just forget what happened this season. We had Ranieri...we were supposed to improve...find the winning coach, and now after all what has happened...the season was already over a long time ago...now we get Del Neri, who isnt exactly a winner, just a manager who had a good season, in a bit weak serie A.

I think Del Neri could be another Ranieri. He might get us that top 4 finish, but i dont think he can make us significantly better. This Juve needs time to improve, but it also needs a manager who can be part of this all for longer time. Thats why someone like Prandelli deserves to look out for in a way. Season by season working there at Viola, improving things here and there.

I wonder what will be the objective for next season?

Oh and btw? If Bayern win CL, 2011-12 CL Italy will only have 3 spots, right? So that means we need to finish in top 3 this next season (2010-11). Is Del Neri up for it?

there is nothing wrong with 4-3-1-2 in itself but it just doesn't work for our current squad
there are various reasons
our strikers lack speed like Trez, Amauri and DelPiero
most of them need crosses as they are good in the air
so Diego behind them had no-one to pass the ball to
and Diego in turn had no support as behind him there was zero- creativity
that's why Ciro wanted d'Agostino so badly
so our opposition only had to get Diego out of the game and our midfield was paralysed and our forwards could only be reached with long balls
we also lacked the support from our backs because well they just suck
in 1985 when Juve played in that blood soaked Heysel-drama
we played in a 4-3-1-2
with Bonnini
Tardelli Boniek
Platini

Bonnini was the destroyer like Sissoko nowadays but Tardelli and Boniek not only did their work defensively but also supported Platini on the attack
their is nothing wrong with this tactic but you need the players to impliment it

I think this will be exciting. Perhaps Giovinco, Iago Falque and Fausto Rossi will be given chances to strut their stuff as wingers? I've been dying to see Rossi's pace in first-team action. I'm a bit worried about what Del Neri has in store for Diego, but I'm sure it'll come together in the end.

I'm sure Marotta will find a couple solid fullbacks, a central defender, a quality winger, and will most likely bring Cassano in from Sampdoria. I'm just hesitant to say he'll get the midfield distributor and the lethal finisher that Juve need so very badly.

Here's a big welcome to some attractive & fast flowing football. That's the Del Neri I would like to see in Juve.

I don't mind Del Neri. I think Agnelli, Marotta and Del Neri can work very well together. Maybe they can bring some Samp talent too?

Anyways, forza Gigi Del Neri! And lets hope we get some new talent to help aid our team as well.

Marotta 'Del Neri one of the best technical'
18:58 del 17 maggio 18:58 17 May

Interviewed by Sky Sport 24, the now former director general of Sampdoria Beppe Marotta, pending official investiture as the new general director of Juventus, Juventus look to the future, which will also Luigi Del Neri .

Del Neri ready for Juventus?
"Absolutely. Del Neri is one of the best coaches around. It is right that a company like Juventus think to him."

Juventus fans are expecting a lot after a disastrous season ...
"It is clear that all hope that Juventus could return to that position that the responsibility for its coat and its glorious history. I'll do everything to help you find the right place."

Diego does not seem very suitable to the form of Neri ...
These situations will be addressed at the right time, when there will be the new coach. The coaches should be adjusted a bit 'to those who are the values of the players. The classic form of Del Blacks is 4-4-2 but we will see calmly and evaluate all things. "

If Del Neri were the coach of Juventus and asked to bring players of Sampdoria in Turin would be prepared to deal with Garrone?
"To deal with Garrone. But I'd rather not because Sampdoria has reached an important goal. The President and his staff are able to evaluate new things. If it were me, I will earthen tight.
