It was a decent episode. And in case anyone hasn't notice, the format of the show has flipped: instead of present time stories interspersed with flashbacks of characters' pasts, it's now interspersed with flash-forwards of characters' futures.
Meaning: the writers (at least those not on strike
) have some kind of end game for the show in mind and are working towards it.

No, they will explain that, be sure about this! I bet it has to do, with Locke being "special", in that "magical" island...
The writers have announced that the end is already pre-defined,
IIRC it will be a huge, last episode, that may appear on cinema screens.
These "flash-forwards" appeared before and they are clearly from the future, (confirmed by the writters)
i suppose the last season, will be off the island...
(rumors say that the Lost "PC game" that will appear shortly, will show us where those flash-forwards will lead...)
At least this time, there wont be any breaks anymore!

That island has seen people magically healed before, and Locke is just the guy to recover from that.
But what didn't make consistent sense to my was that if Benjamin knew that Locke could hear Jacob and thus had a special relationship with the island, why didn't he finish the job after one shot? And if you say that the island would revive him anyway, there would be little point in shooting him in the first place unless to slow him down for a while.

They usually make a point with stuff like that. They didn't this time though, which makes me thing that it might be a blooper. Then there's the point you bring up right now; it's just not explained right or something.
Also, regarding the flash-forwards. Could it be that the outcomes can be altered based on the decisions they make on the island? In other words could it be that that's how it's going to be unless they do something different...now. Hope that makes sense.

That's a good point actually...but I'm not too sure how they will explain it, or make sense out of that into a concept for the viewer. (as if there is anything in this show that is easily understood and straighforward!)
More importantly I'm thinking about this whole quest for returning back to the island.
Remember in the Season 3 final episode, final scene (Jack and Kate's future flash, flash forward whatever u call it! ) when they mention going back. The same thing happens here between Jack and Hugo - the latter suggesting that they should go back.
I really want to know what it is they want to go back for. I suspect it's to relocate there for good. Look at how Ben and his crew are so desperate to stay on the island...although in Season 3 he was willing to allow Jack to leave.....

Someone needs to explain why Hurley's police chase arrest in L.A. -- which happens in the future after they return from the island, as we learn on this week's episode -- is shown on Korean TV in the background of a scene with Sun a season or two ago ... well before she even gets on the plane that crashes on the island!
