I think he can start at LB. If he can't this year he never will. We need a guy to go up and down the left flank and put in a decent cross. He'll do that. He does look stiff sometimes but playing a lot could help him out and having Ciro help him on his defensive game will help him.

What do you think of De Ceglie, Mark? Possibly ready this season to prove himself worthy of a starting role at left back? Or best for him to play understudy to both Sali or Caceres at left back, and the central midfielders, who I suppose he could deputise for...Poulsen is naturally a dogged central midfielder, but would say that De Ceglie could be as, if not more useful there than the apparently revitalized Dane?

For me, De Ceglie's strengths are his crossing, energy, pace and strength. He is very raw, defensively speaking, and if Security was the key, i would presently put him behind Sali, at left back, but in front of Molinaro.

And I agree...we need to keep and develop our homegrown players, trust and believe in them. If he is good enough to play consistently for the azzurrini, as was Criscito, we must give the chance to prove himself with us...
Agree except for strength. He is no Chiellini, he needs to bulk up I think.

He was developed by Ciro, I am willing to bet that he will be given an honest chance this year.

If DC is not given a chance this year, or he he fails his chances, we should better sell him, for both side's sake!

And then buy a proper LB starter!! (day-dreaming)
