An Islamic country would be a country where the rules of Islam are followed. There is not 1 nation on this planet that fits that description.

You see the concept of Sharia law (Islamic law) can not work in any country. There are several reasons why it can't work.
First of all, you can't set rules and regulations that apply to Muslims when you have a non-Muslim population. In a secular government every human being, regardless of their race, religion, or creed has an equal right to decide how he/she wants to shape the country. In this so called Islamic law this wouldn't be possible. Not only would it alienate the non-Muslim population, but it would alienate people that belong to different sects of Islam.
You see there are 73 sects in Islam and everyone has their own interpretations. How can you possibly expect everyone to agree on a common "Islamic" law? It's just not possible. Then you have non-Muslims living there too. How can you expect a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, or even an atheist to accept these so called laws of God?
I'll share something with you guys that I read the other day about this very topic. This Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan was given the task to investigate the reason for the 1953 riots against Ahmadi Muslims and to find out who really was a Muslim. So he asked various Muslims scholars to define Islam so that a consensus could be reached as to who is and who isn't a Muslim. In the report he submitted, he found that not one single scholar agreed with the other, in fact one said he wanted time to think about it, to which he replied:
"If thirteen centuries, plus some years are not enough for you to be able to define the very fundamentals of Islam ‑ what is a definition? ‑ how much more time would you require?'
So you see, this concept is nearly impossible.
Religion and government have to be separate or we'll just keep stepping on each others toes.
