1) Most people here are quite happy with the laws, so the government has fulfilled its obligation there.

2) Thats not true for everyone though, from a muslim's point of view, that is extremely harmful. and this is a muslim country.

3) Liberalism in concept is good, and in fact that "2000 year old book" you talk about, promotes the idea of equal opportunities for everyone, freedom of thought, freedom of speech and all that, but its the modern type of liberalism that i and probably most muslims find hard to embrace.

2)
yeah, well another measure of how good laws are is how they protect minorities, why should a non-muslim be scared for his life and here my school has a special muslim prayer room?

doesn't mean the minorities should be let off when they blatantly break the law...and if your school was willing to make a prayer room for Muslims, credit to them for allowing that

They are happy because they don't know what true freedom is, a caged mouse will be happy in its cage as long as it isn't allowed outside. A house cat may think that the world is inside the house, open up the doors and the house looks like a big piece of shit.

The point is, wake the fuck up and stop caring so god damn much.

Also, get half of those people out of that microcosm, and you know what, I'll bet you anything in the world that they would like it more.

Islamic countries are prisons with no walls.
 wtf is conceptual sex?
You and I both know what he means.
lol no dude he meant to say consensual but conceptual is money i.e "i have conceptual sex with jessica alba every night"
DA!

Burke, how many Islamic countries have you been to?
None, and I have no desire to go to any because as you will see in the post I quoted after this, there are no "Islamic countries."
But there are no 'Islamic' countries. You must be referring to majority Muslims countries.
I didn't say it, Freddie did. Plus, there are Islamic countries because their laws are almost strictly based on the religious rules of Islam, hence and islamic country.

so what would make a country islamic?
An Islamic country would be a country where the rules of Islam are followed. There is not 1 nation on this planet that fits that description.

I know it was Freddie.

You see the concept of Sharia law (Islamic law) can not work in any country. There are several reasons why it can't work.

First of all, you can't set rules and regulations that apply to Muslims when you have a non-Muslim population. In a secular government every human being, regardless of their race, religion, or creed has an equal right to decide how he/she wants to shape the country. In this so called Islamic law this wouldn't be possible. Not only would it alienate the non-Muslim population, but it would alienate people that belong to different sects of Islam.

You see there are 73 sects in Islam and everyone has their own interpretations. How can you possibly expect everyone to agree on a common "Islamic" law? It's just not possible. Then you have non-Muslims living there too. How can you expect a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, or even an atheist to accept these so called laws of God?

I'll share something with you guys that I read the other day about this very topic. This Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan was given the task to investigate the reason for the 1953 riots against Ahmadi Muslims and to find out who really was a Muslim. So he asked various Muslims scholars to define Islam so that a consensus could be reached as to who is and who isn't a Muslim. In the report he submitted, he found that not one single scholar agreed with the other, in fact one said he wanted time to think about it, to which he replied:

"If thirteen centuries, plus some years are not enough for you to be able to define the very fundamentals of Islam ‑ what is a definition? ‑ how much more time would you require?'

So you see, this concept is nearly impossible.

Religion and government have to be separate or we'll just keep stepping on each others toes.

BLOOM!

Agree....

Which is why the US has the Constitutional stipulation separating Church and State.
