btw where is Kopite these days?
:fero::fero::fero::fero::D:D
good question-haven't seen him in a while-but then again I haven't been on here for a couple of days.....

@ Mysterio-yeah, barring a miracle, wolves will be relegated :frown: I'd rather have teams that are promoted stay for at least two seasons-I hate it when they are relegated right away:(

Dioud has had his red card rescinded, so he will not miss any games. Liverpool beat Aston Villa 1-0, with the returning Micheal Owen missing several chances-score could easily have been 3-0. the new goalie also played well :)

Cheyrou's rich vein of form no surprise to Houllier

By Jeremy Butler

LIVERPOOL, England, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier says he is not surprised that midfielder Bruno Cheyrou has finally hit form with four goals in the last five games.

Cheyrou, who has played twice for France, failed to shine last season and played just one match before January in the current campaign because of injury.

But the 25-year-old has now recovered his fitness and his goals in the new year have been important ones, including winners against Chelsea in the premier league and Newcastle in the FA Cup.

"I know what the player was like when we signed him. I knew he could score goals," Houllier told reporters on Friday.

"He scored something like 15 goals in the French League and scored against Manchester United in the Champions League. He can deliver and score goals for us."

Cheyrou has on occasions been singled out for criticism by the Anfield crowd since signing from Lille for 3.7 million pounds ($6.70 million) in July 2002, something which has surprised Houllier.

"If you play and don't play well, you can accept things being said about your play," he added. "But in this case people were saying he was a bad buy and he wasn't even playing games.

"Both on the physical and mental side playing for Liverpool is different from playing for Lille, but he can cope."

Cheyrou is certain to start in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool, but Norwegian midfielder John Arne Riise is set for another match as a substitute.

"Riise started the season in the team but he has had some dips," the Frenchman said. "But he is certainly a player that belongs to the future. He is in my plans. Maybe at the moment he can feel frustrated because he is not playing.

"There are a few areas of his game he needs to improve and he will do that in time."

Liverpool are fifth in the premier league, four points behind Charlton Athletic.

What's wrong with Smicer? I think he's quite an effective player who gets the job done. Sure, there's better players, but he seems to fit into Liverpool quite well

Yeah, Smicer is one of Liverpool's best players imo. Of course Owen, Kewell, and Gerrard are ahead of him, but Vladimir can be a very useful player and I've seen him score quite a few game-winning goals for Pool. Diouf is another underrated player as far as I'm concerned. I really appreciate the work he puts in on the right flank, though I'm not even close to being a Liverpool fan.

Diouf - Gerrard - Murphy - Kewell
-------------------Smicer
--------------Owen

Diouf is a bit selfish though, sometimes. I'm sure his teammates get frustrated at him
At times he is a bit selfish, but his runs aren't bad at all, and I've seen him whip in some dangerous crosses.

I agree with you...I don't like him at all...Maybe in the current time he's better and more effective than Vladi...But in my opinion..We should sell them Both..Smicer is not playing his best this season...Maybe Vladi was one of our Key players a year or 2 ago,,but This season,he's not good at all

Baros was injured and he will be back soon..I really miss that guy...Atleast Heskey will be put on the bench when Baros returns

I think Liverpool will be hard pressed to replace Smicer and Diouf. When Cisse comes and Owen finds his shooting boots again, i think your goalscoring department will be decent. Smicer and Diouf aren't irreplaceable, but Liverpool don't have enough depth at the memont.
