It is the third Mercato in a row where we haven't improved out starting lineup. That trend can't continue.

I don't really like taking the January Mercato as a full-fledged one. It's mostly either making up for failures in the summer, or making loan deals + option/obligations for the next one.

So we've only really had one decent-underwhelming Mercato where we didn't significantly improve our starting XI. Though, bar the injured Romulo, all of our summer signings have been used extensively so far, and have defenitely been useful. I expect one starter-calibre (à la Mkhitaryan) player in the summer besides Berardi, Zaza & Rugani, but so far I wouldn't worry too much.

apparently we didn't get Osvaldo because inter decided to keep him and not give him back to Southampton so he wouldn't join us but will keep him and never play him.

But hey, if they feel that keeping someone who wanted to kill arguably the best player on your squad is better than giving him to a team that you will only play once more the rest of the year is worth it, than more power to them.
