He is born and raised in the Netherlands though. I understand what you are saying but if I in my profession aim to play for a national team that will play Euros and WCs, I would knock on that door. Not a team of amateurs. But I am biased since I don't have much affection for national games.

Tbh it goes 2 ways, it's how you feel nationally and what you feel is the best chance of playing regular international football, ive seen plenty of English players who have switched allegiance to lesser known nations for the sake of playing internationals.
