From a fan point of view you are obviously right, but i wonder if its financially possible, i really think the board demands the deficit this year to be under certain figures, thus booking him for the summer would fix that. Then again, signing the deal now, and starting payments then, would also do that. I think they want to try him as a temporary striker, and keep matri as Llorente's understudy in the summer.

Whykwould they be competing for one spot? Llorente and lisandro can easily play together. Lopez has experience playIng the wing which means he is comfortable coming back to gt the play running at defenders and taking them on/creating providing etc. he may not be as technical but more effective in terms of scoring. Llorente has two good feed strong to hold off the defender and comfortable with coming deep in midfield to receive balls to open up channels behind him for our channel runners marchisio etc. lisandro being out through on a run behind the defence is a lot better then Vucinic. I see I reason why they cannot play together.

Says who? Lopez wouldn't come here if he knew he's going to take a back seat to llorente next season. Vucinic is not irreplaceable.

He is righ this minute because we have no one else but I'd Lopez comes then we will see how much conte will put up with his inconsistency. I'm a Vucinic fan but lets face it his shoots is horrid. He needs to start putting his purse down when shooting and put some strength behind them. He's always finessing it. Whatever the case if Lopez signs and he's scoring goals along with llorente Vucinic will be on the bench but until he signs no point in discussing

I like the player but the cash investment in a 30 year old means we intend to play him for as long as we can and with our dearth of strikers already, I'm afraid we will just blindly ignore the striker market for the next little while and conclude that we have to use what we've paid for.

I'm scared that's the reason we've invested in those 3 young strikers. We are banking on one to come good and in the meantime we will keep changing bandaids (that's a shit term because these guys are better but you get what I mean).

I'd even presently prefer to see Quags as a starting striker alongside giovinco. His shooting, work rate, determination, stamina, heart are all superior to Mirko. I'm no fan of the Vuc..far more often than not he is lethargic, uninterested, holds the ball up then loses it, with poor technique in the shot, too many clever attempts at passes when a simple one would be the better choice.

The fact that Mirko is considered a starting forward confirms to me that our strike force (pre- Lisandro and Llorente) is of a very average standard. true enough he has improved in terms of work rate and helping to cover in midfield, but offensively, he isn't anywhere near consistent enough to be considered a strong player. I doubt he would get on the bench for most top teams around europe. Whereas Llorente would, and Lisandro might/would.

True, but the bandaids are quite good ones and we cant afford to buy a permanent fix just yet. Therefore, the bandaids plus hope of one of our youngsters coming good might be the best we can do now.

These seem like all the same thing to me. And they're far from the most important thing for a striker to have.

Our playmaker is in front of the defence, marchisio and vidal making forward runs.
On top of that, Llorente brings us a deep targetman, that can play with back to goal.

What this creates is a whole lotta space for midfield runners to move in, and for the supporting striker to be creative in.

If you take lissandro as supportive striker, he's by no means the connection vucinic is, and not nearly as creative. Instead he'll take up running space from vidal and marchisio, and cannot benefit from his finishing playing so close to midfield.
Vucinic on the other hand, now sees a diffrent player taking the targetting role aswel, giving our players options who to target, and him more space to move into. it will benefit his creativity and scoring.
Also giovinco, could use all that space llorente creates quite good, or could pair lissandro in a more counterattacking style

Lissandro, could also play at Llorente's spot, for a diffrent kind of attack, paired with vucinic or giovinco.

But lissandro+Llorente, would nullify a bit of llorente's work, imo.

Vucinic,giovinco and Llorente, lissandro, would be quite a good attack.

i get your point but i dont find lisandro inferior enough to vucinic in a creatie aspect where vucinic will play ahead of him just because of his creatively. Lisandro can link up wit the mids to llorente just fine and if he absolutely cant one of our centre mids can easily play a bit further up to reduce that gab. I like vucinic dont get me wrong but half the time when hes running at defender he A) loses the ball b) shoots at the defender or wide and C) plays a beauty ball like to matri against udinese but imo not enough to keep a goal scorer out of the 11. Lopez has a excellent first touch a great touch to get around defenders and goalies when 1 on 1 and scores goals. vucinic does not score enough goals for me. anyways agree to disagree it will obviously depend on conte and if changes in tactics will be needed or not either way the frontline will be upgraded enough if lopez and now llorente are added to juve.

These seem like all the same thing to me. And they're far from the most important thing for a striker to have.

All loosely connected to what could be summed up as DRIVE. But they are separate facets to a character. I know people who have amazing heart and stamina but fuck all determination...people with an amazing work ethic but far too soft a level of determination to make them into the monster they could be. There are differentces. Working hard is not the same as being determined. Determination, to me, is more like grinta. which is different to, but certainly connected to heart. regardless of whether separated or lumped together as DRIVE, it incredibly important for a striker. Of course its meaningless without talent, but talent can be meaningless without Drive.
For example...one of the most talented strikers I have ever seen, had a small dose of Heart, very little determination, a decent enough work rate, average stamina but incredible natural ability.
As someone wrote beneath that...Le tissier managed 8 caps for England, Emile Heskey 62.
At southampton, i'd agree its not that important, especially when a player can give the fans such huge joy, the kind of joy that few players in the world can supply..but for Juventuz, and for Conte's tactics and style, Drive is essential.

When drive is as ample as talent, wonderful players appear...such as Messi and Rooney. I remember reading of Messi saying once something along the lines of 'id love to play with Rooney, because he loves the game so much...and would play the same, whether in a world cup final or a kick around with his friends'.

Anyway, a lot of words...but I'm sure the video will be enjoyed.
