I've never done an upgrade. Always a clean install. Mostly cos my internet speed sucks, so it'll take days to upgrade.

Fresh install with more problems. Whenever i try sudo apt-get update or when trying to install vlc etc this pops up. I've already entered my proxy settings in Synaptic, apt.conf and bashrc

Why do you need to use a proxy?

I am using the college LAN which is behind a proxy. It used to work perfectly with Koala, Jaunty.
