And you stood there and let him get fooled? Bad son, bad son :D
Nah, that was years ago...I didn't work with him then and well, he never bothered to ask. But to be honest, it wasn't such a bad buy for my Dad as with that zip drive, he could easily back up his things directly from the finance program, put in the disk and press back-up. Now to use a CD-R required shutting down the program, opening the burning software, navigating it, finding the directory with the files, etc....yeah, that Zip drive did save me a lot of headaches when I think about it. :D

After countless efforts, I have now successfully completed the first step in moving out of the windows world. A big thank you to all the guys who directly/indirectly helped me in completing the switch...

Martin, how do I increase the size of '/'. Its already at 93% and I need to install updates...
It's a bit late for that I'm afraid. Did you use a single partition for Linux?

I would repartition and reinstall. You could also try to resize partitions but that doesn't always work so well.

I used a single partition of about 30 gb... What do you recommend? More than one partition? I don't mind reinstalling because I have all the time in the world for the next few days...

You made it 30gb and it's already 93% full? No f way. Are you sure you don't mean 93% free? :dazed:

My / is 25gb and I have tons upon tons of apps installed. I'm using 18gb.

Yeah, thanks for the support :(

:D

Btw, installing Ubuntu with the alternate disc was very easy... Most things seem to be working out of the box...
