i so hate all the programs and restarts after i'm formatting my hard...it takes ages to get back to the way it was before
Not in linux. You just keep a list of programs that you had installed and feed that list to the package manager which will install them one by one. As for your settings and configuration stuff that remains on your system, don't have to set up every program from scratch.

OR

In Linux, just backup your home folder and format or do whatever you want and get it back again and it will be as good as new + you won't lose any setting ..

Settings are in your home directory, yes. But programs are installed globally on the system. So restoring your home directory will not restore the programs that were installed before the format/upgrade/whatever. That's why I say generate a list of installed programs you can then reinstall.

I know i just didn't bold what I should've bolded before ..

all I mean that all you need is the list and the backup and you're set :p

Okay, another observation...

I tried $startx like Jack suggested, I get an error like
/dev/null: Permission denied. Unable to create Xsession.
