Ok here is something to keep this thread going..

I am currently using a 7 years old Compaq presario 6000 desktop. 2.4 GHz pentium 4, 512 MB RAM. Its aging and I feel its time to upgrade. Ofcourse some of you might think why the hell haven't I moved on/up till now. The answer is simple, this PC has been working phenominally well and was worth every single penny I've put in it. Since purchase not a single upgrade was done (except for a USB wireless access point and a webcam).

I've tried working on PCs with windows vista on them, and I felt its just slower than my 7 years old XP. The computers ithemelves were fast, but the Vista slowed them down pretty well. Then I went to the apply shop where I fiddled around with the iMAC. It was amazingly fast. The one I worked on had both Tiger and windows XP on.

MAC has been developing quite well, and although I was a windows fan (for flexibiltiy) the MACs stability is something beyound anyones ignorance, let alone the new Leopard OS is amazing.

Do you think its wise to get an iMAC with both Leopard and XP rather than getting a windows based PC?

Well Sabayon is pretty good Jack. It's a little sluggish compaired to PCLOS but it makes it up with the vast array of software that comes preinstalled. It's running great and I think I'll keep it for a while but there's just one big stumbling block. I can't get Flash to work with Opera in Sabayon, that's really frustrating for me.

Ooh, also, with Sabayon I discoeverd SMplayer. It's Mplayer, only with a better interface. :superhapp

i just installed LinuxMint! it looks sweet! almost all distro's seem to have a problem with Opera! crashes all the time. LM's based on Kubuntu.

anyone tried LinuxMCE? im curious after the demo video i saw of it!

You are in the wrong place and I've never owned a Mac but from what little I know, yes indeed a Mac seems like an improvement over Windows.

Well boys I'm happy to report that currently Opera runs very nicely on my gentoo, so the Sabayon people should hopefully be satisfied too. In fact it's running so well that there aren't any more bugs in it that I can see. arty:

Opera worked flawlessly for me, including flash and java pages, in the following distros:

- Mandriva

It works fine in Sabayon as well, only I can't get flash videos playing there. I never had any crashing problems whatsoever with Opera, I don't know why you do Redshift..

No, I'm still with Mozilla Corp's lumbering giant. Don't like Opera's MDI interface, don't like the bookmarks and I'd miss my extensions.

if planet-f1 opens properly and STAYS like that for a long time, then ill be happy!

oh n vlat, if u want to block those ads on Opera, just google 'fanboy adblock' and download the .ini file. it works great for me!
