I never did that, all I've ever said is tongue in cheek* about rtorrent, never claimed it was that amazing.

* set off by your constant raving about me you torrent :p

The thing about rtorrent is that it runs fine in a shell, and sometimes that's handy. And it's super light, as opposed to azureus that I got well acquainted with in the past.

Did anyone here try the new PCLinuxOS?

I did and I don't think I'm going back to *buntu's.
I tried it, but a stripped down version of it. Amaroklive is based on that distro. Can't say I am impressed with it, but again Amaroklive is stripped down and kinda old.

Well PCLinuxOS 2007 just got released 2 days ago and it's pretty impressive. Everything works out of the box like a charm, including Beryl(all you need is to isntall nVidia/ATI drivers and just turn on the effects). The whole distro runs so smoothly, great boot-up times and overall the whole distro runs really FAST. You really should check it out, they put a lot of effort in this new release.

Perhaps I will try it someday, its just the name of the distro is kind of a turn off.

Supporters of free and open source solutions have thrown down the gauntlet at Microsoft's feet. Christian Einfeldt of Digital Tipping Point says 'Sue Me First,' and he's not alone. More and more people are signing up and challenging Microsoft to put their lawyers where their mouth is. The open source community is far from running scared. Will Microsoft step up to the plate, or are they just continuing a scare campaign with no real ability to leverage the patents they claim open source is infringing?

Debian based? or RH?

Does it use apt or some other package manager? if different easier?
It uses Synaptic, Debian based. But TBH, for the little I've used it I don't see many similarities with *buntu. The distro is easier, the Control Center is a great feature, but most of all it's faster. Amarok starts in 2 seconds which is not something I can say for any *buntu release. :D

You really outta try it and see for yourself.

Btw ubuntu seems a bit on the slow side in general. When I ssh into my old laptop (gentoo -> ubuntu) it takes like 3 seconds. When I boot into gentoo it takes 3ms.

I've no idea what the hell it's doing all that time.
