It is stable but the service packs hardly make any difference. Then again XP is an operating system that has been in the market for the past 6 fucking years, the least it can be is become stable.
I'm a Windows user turned Linux lover since about 2 years ago, and I can honestly say that I've never been amazed by any Microsoft product. I'm somewhat surprised when they work properly and don't crash, but to call that amazement is a bit of an overstatement.

personally, since I converted to Ubuntu I haven't find any thing to bother me except that i stopped playing PC games (and i'm getting around that lately .. forza Wine) .. and when i need to correct something on word or excel in my college .. it's just a pain in the ass to convert from .odt to .doc .. needs a lot of reformatting the essay or whatever ..
