It's a little buggy, yes, so be prepared for that. KDE 4.0 isn't to be considered a solid release, it's more like getting the good stuff out to people as soon as possible, so that they'll get excited and want to participate in KDE. KDE 4.1 is coming in July, and that's gonna be a whole lot more polished.

lol ironically yes, but Vista is the whole os, whereas KDE is just a little buggy on the desktop side. Don't be too scared of it, though, it's not generally unstable, it's just some little quirks that don't work quite right. It doesn't crash or anything.

Maybe I'm scaring people too much about KDE 4.0. Basically KDE 3.5 is a really high quality product and frankly not a lot of applications out there hold up to that standard. KDE 4.0 isn't that quality, yet. It will be once it's had some time to mature (after all KDE 3 is 5 years old and when it was new I didn't really like it, it wasn't until around 3.3 that I really liked it).

right... i downloaded the image and burnt it. and had a lil trouble installing, but eventually it did. when i booted it up, i got a pretty good loookin screen. but hardly anything worked!!! i cudnt find my volume icon. no way i cud change the volume. i cudnt find add/remove programs, hardware settings... and when i looked into the start menu, i got the INSTALL icon!!! and im like WTF is going on!!! :lol:


so here i am, installing Kubuntu 7.04 with KDE 3.5! :tdown: to KDE 4.0

I'm currently dual booting XP and.......wait for it....................................Vista!

I'm such a bad boy. :D
